CSL Sofas

Options
Hi Everyone hopefully non of you have faced the tiring ordeal with CSL like we have.

Basically in February 2008 my mum and dad ordered a superior leather corner suite for our house its costing £3000 so not cheap. Now fast forward to June 2008 we get the sofa delivered there is numerous faults with it like

They claim that the electric reclining chairs are a legget and platt mechinism which is not its a chinese equivalant but CSL happily advertise on their website that it is a Legget and Platt Mechinism.
Small holes (CSL claim its midget bites when the leather has been on the animal)
The leather is different colours all over the suite
There is scuffs all over it
Its like a wave affect because they come in single units to clip together that they dont even line up properly when assembled.
They dont clip together as the corner piece is twisted and the clips that makes them all fit together are broke too.

So we called CSL after many many phone calls and over 2 and a half hours on the phone to one of the managers RK he agreed to order us a new one and to personally inspect it himself before sending it to us and leave us with the faulty one till the other arrives.

So now the new sofa arrives today they unpack it and there is many many faults with that too....

Again the wave affect with the cushions
Scuffs
Holes
scratches
Red paint (on a brown sofa)

So we ring RK again and he said we can send the new one back for repair and then we have to accept it. Or accept it and take the other one away and when the new one is fixed we have to pay for redelivery.

At this stage my mum just wants a refund.

So in the end this other guy comes to our house to have a look at the suite CO he said yes it is faulty and he can take it back fix it and then we have to put up with it. He was rather rude and my mum said that nothing is moving till this is sorted out and locked the front door with the key left in it also the patio door was open because we have to bring the sofa through the house over the back from us as it wont fit through the front door so he could of left if he wanted to. But instead he decided to call the police and say we have held him hostage!!! ha ha! We are still waiting for the police to come now. He left through the back garden along with the drivers and have had to leave the two sofa's here.

We have been on to the local paper and they are coming out in the morning. This is just getting stupid. Has anyone had any problems with CSL and had them sorted?

Im pretty sure that the law states that you can refuse any item within 14 days if it is not fit for purpose (which its not) and still CSL are refusing to give a refund.

So here is a big warning for you do not buy a sofa from CSL also google it before you do you will also find the CSL alternative site which many many people have complained about CSL.

  • Take it step by step, list your faults and send it recorded delivery

Take plenty of pictures (Press will be doing this!)

Speak to trading standards tomorrow morning and take their advice

Leggitt and platt are very good mechanisms and they are used across the buisness,

Sounds like you have a analine leather suite, is this correct.

all I would say is be sure as to what you want,

From your facts it seems that you have decided,

    Good Luck
  • Well MR RK called at 8 this morning and said he would come and have a look at the sofa at 9:30 he turned up at 8:50 with 3 other men like we was going to kidnapp him or something.

He looked at the sofa and decided we was right. So we got a full refund and he's took both sofa's away so now we are sat on our dining room chairs instead. He wasn't interested in giving any compensation for the waste of time or money that my parents have lost by having to take the day off work.

I guess he seems to think this will be the last of us. How wrong!!

What ever you do dont buy a brown superior corner suite from CSL in the next few months as it is probably one of our returns! Thats right they are putting the sofa's into CSL shops with a 5% discount off it!

And if you are thinking or have ordered a suite from them make sure you check it over finely for problems.

CSL claim that they are sofa specialists! I wouldn't want to see a non specialist after the junk they have brought into our house!

  • In regards to csl.

The men who delivered it scratched my flooring quite badly but as i am a gracious man and they had a distinct look of fear in there eyes i encouraged them not to worry about it.

The "rimini" corner sofa is great but the insurance they try to sell you "sofa shield" has been a complete waste of £150

    I am so annoyed.

I reported an ink stain twice in 2008 and had to endure questions like, is it a straight line or a scribble. What's the length of the scribble.
How many scribbles are there. When did it happen. Who is responsible for the stain.
We will send you a cleaning pack in the post so you can clean it yourself.
at point of sale i was advised a repair man would always come out.

Did they send the cleanng pack? No
I have heard nothing in the post or over the phone.

The customer service has been obnoxious at the best of times. And to top it all off they have no records of my call.
  • Oh dear I am planning to buy a new sofa and am considering one from CSL. Im concerned about after care as I live in an upstairs flat and am unsure whether the sofa will fit........
  • We went to CSL this weekend and was thinking of buying but looking at the forum there are a lot of nightmare stories... But surely a company as large as CSL there must be some people that are please with there sofa... Has anyone got a 2 to 3 year old sofa from CSL that is still good and fit for purpose..

    Thanks

We've just purchased from Next. They're all made in the U.K and depending on fabric chosen are delivered in 5 days or less. Only problem we had was one foot was damaged and we didn't notice until a week later. A call to Next and they've sent out replacements.

If they arrive then it as to be a thumbs up from me!

  • Avoid CSL at all costs!! They are scam artists that will rip you off.. We ordered a sofa from CSL and they delivered a sun damaged sofa with rips, tears, and in a completly different colour. Redish brown instead of black! It was clearly damaged . We refused the delivery and immediatly called the store. They said there was nothing they would do about it and that we need to now pay an extra 124£ for not keeping their fault item. We took photos of the sofa and emailed it to CSL showing a faulty item. They basically told us its not their problem since we signed a contract and now they want us to pay 1,400 for an item we dont even have!! Weve wasted so much time calling and complaining getting no where with them because they are the most unhelpful uncaring people. All they want is that contract signed, they dont care about a happy customer. Now were left with no choice but to take legal action.. Every time we call to speak to a manager they are apparently on a two week vacation!! So it seems there are three managers/ assistant manager/and a cusyomer service lady all on holiday at the same time. What a hoax!! They take their time because they want you to go over the 14 day period. Now im hearing more and more complaints from other friends/co workers that have gone through CSL in the past and had similar problems such as their so called warrenty not really existing, and sofas being delivered three months late, or sending the wrong items, adding on costs to the final bill without your knowledge. We are taking our complaint to the news and 60 seconds. So others can be warned before they end up broke without a sofa as well. We dont want anyone else to go through what weve gone through.

These are true scam artists that have no heart.

    Avoid avoid avoid!!!!
