Hi there, firstly can i excuse my total lack of knowledge about computers i basicly use them to come on here and on msn to chat to friends, anyway our main computer got infected by Smitfraud?!?! and i googled it stupidly instead of coming on here first, so google results confused me but by the time i found the techie board i had given up and it's now switched off at the wall staring at me accusingly
I've been using my lappy but i can't conect to MSN anymore, everything freezes and i end up taking my battery out and starting again, even if i try to uninstall MSN it freezes, does anyone have the patience to try and explain to me what it could be and how i could maybe go about fixing it please.
Lol then i'll be asking your round for tea and asking very nicely if you could fix my main one too.

Thanking you very much if you even take time to read this.:o

ps please use simple terms if possible:o
:pwould like to make it known it is not a DHN, she's dancing :p

If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.:A

Its a new one on me ~ but its called 'spyware', and sounds pretty nasty from what ive just read!
I would suggest against running ANY type of 'music' or 'video' program for now!
First up we really need to know what protection you have. What antivirus and firewall do you have?

    Download SPYBOT
    http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html
do NOT have 'tea timer' ticked when installing
    UPDATE
    IMMUNISE
    SCAN

Hopefully that will find it and kill it
    If not then try
    ADAWARE
    http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-2008/3000-8022_4-10045910.html?part=dl-ad-aware&subj=dl&tag=top5&cdlPid=10844457
    UPDATE
    FULL SCAN

we can take it from there

How do I delete it if it’s already installed?

    *Sorry to butt in* ;)

    No problem :p

Just bare in mind that the only reason I said to NOT have it running in THIS particular post is because its quite intrusive. Its actually quite a useful program that should stop certain nasties from taking over your computer (But I personally use comodo firewalls DEFENSE for that). So maybe you want to keep it switched on?

malwarebytes also have a built in protector shame it doesn't work in Vista 64 but the program works fine just without the protector
