Cat not using tray?

Just phoned the vet to see if they had any ideas.
She basicly said he is most likely stressed. She gave me a huge list of things to try one by one, so it may take forever to figure out what might work. First one is moving the litter tray to a quieter room so he has more 'privacy' but I don't think that will help either. Then I can try a different litter but she said it's not likely to be that because he has always used the same litter. Then I can try a different litter tray with a hood, etc etc etc
Oh dear.Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -
Update, moved his litter tray to the bedroom so it was in a quieter place like the vet said. He done his poo in the livingroom where the tray was before I moved it.
Is it time to scream yet?Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -
How often do you clean the tray? I do mine three times a day and wash it out once every two days. If you do clean it often then maybe try putting his food where he does his poo, cats won't wee/mess where their food is. I know it will be near the tray, but try it anyway. Also empty the litter as soon as he has done his wee/poo in the tray. I do that and it helped with the smell around the house too.0

if it is stress, then try a natural tablet called Zylkene - i have read some great stuff about it. it costs about £27 for 100 tablets at Vet UK website - they will cost more through your vet though.0

I agree with Lowis
One of my cats has been on Zylkene since April, and we've had remarkable results he is really chilled out these days and this tablet has worked wonders for his stress related cystitis.
Its expensive but worth it I think.0
