how to decode my car radio

Can anyone give me some advice on where to obtain a code for my delco electronics radio, I require a 4 digit code to restart my radio there are sites that charge online however with this credit crunch I can ill afford any more money.

I had this problem recently. After being in a bump my car went into a local garage, and when it came out again the radio wanted a code to work - OH thinks this was because the battery was disconnected during the repair work.

I found a reference in the paperwork that came with my car (2003 Renault) to the International Security Register (www.retainagroup.com), where my car had been registered by Renault. They had the code, but to release it I had to complete "change of ownership" documentation (I was not the first owner of the car) and pay a £20 registration fee. This was very annoying, but the only way to be able to use my own radio again.

That bump turned out to be quite an expensive one!:mad:

Might be worth emailing them to see if they have your car's details - I found they responded quite quickly to my initial enquiry.

Hi,

I have a hyundai accent and am unable to use the radio due to not having the code. (secondhand car purchase...code lost).

The car is 15 years or so old, (I know!) and I telephoned a honda dealer but they were unable to help saying that they'd not be able to give me the code for a car of this age.

If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.
The serial number is: EA50211674 (I think)
Model: H - 810XE

most car audio shops will be able to decode it for you for £10-£15.

also if you can remove the headunit it may be wort looking on it for any stickers that may be there,i know it sounds daft but many companies actually put the code on a sticker on the headunit itself.

I recently had a new battery fitted to my Ford and couldn't find the radio code in any of my car documents. I ended up ringing the dealership where I originally bought the car, explained the situation and they rang me back with the code, there was no charge. I believe they only did this as they could confirm my details from their records/computer system as I've always got my services and MOT's done there since the car was new. I've now wrote the code down for future reference. (It took me a few goes to key in the code before it worked but thats another story!!)
