Easyjet Photo ID

Options
Wondering if anyone has any cost effective ideas for obtaining photographic ID that Easyjet will accept? My friend is travelling on a return domestic flight but his passport expired in August and he doesn't want to/can't afford to pay £72 to renew as he is unlikely to be going abroad in the near future. He doesnt drive so has no Driver's Licence either.
Communication with Easyjet via website just gets the answer that it must be valid photographic ID and a useless link to a section that tells u nothing about what is acceptable.

Any ideas pls?
Thanks in advance

"If you are unsure what constitutes a valid ID we recommend you contact our customer service department on 0871 244 2366 (calls cost 10p per minute; calls from mobiles and other networks may cost more) for further information."

Your friend might be able to use his expired passport if it has just expired and he's flying domestically.

Give them a call and ask.

failing any positive communications with EasyJet, your friend will need to travel by other mode of transport (or not at all)

I would be getting my passport renewal for £72 passport in the very near future imo. Otherwise it will just be more expensive in future.

I have checked on Ryanir and they require:

A valid passport (passport for travel outside the EEA must have six months validity beyond the date of entry).

A valid driving licence with photo is acceptable photo ID for travel on domestic flights. (Please note that driving licences are not accepted when passengers are using online check-in)

    But they state:

Expired or damaged forms of photo-ID will not be accepted for any flight.
Failure to present valid photo-ID matching the names on your reservation will result in your being refused check-in without refund.

Can't see that Easyjet would be much different.

    Citizen card

    yours for £10

    "Is CitizenCard widely-recognised ?

Most shops, pubs, clubs, airlines (domestic flights) and other organisations recognise CitizenCard as valid photo-ID or proof-of-age. As a scheme audited by the Trading Standards Institute CitizenCard was the first scheme to carry PASS (Proof of Age Standards Scheme) accreditation, supported by the Home Office."

my bold so worth phoning easyjet to make sure or, as it's a simple yes/no question an email as you're then have a paper trail if it goes wrong at the airport

If he's going on a UK domestic flight IT IS OK IF IT HAS EXPIRED

    http://www.easyjet.com/EN/News/20040628_01.html

It can be 2 years out of date. Its still a "valid passsport" it was issued correctly etc etc...its just expired. But still a valid ID documents if you see what I mean.

Best to print that page and take it with you though in case the person on check in doesnt know the policy...

Thanks to all for ideas and assistance.

Richardw and Marty >>> I had called Easyjet previously and got stuck in a never-ending 10p per min loop and gave up after 10mins.

Tuggy: I also asked by email about the expired passport and got the following reply:
Thank you for contacting us on the issue of ID validity.

I would like to inform you that Easyjet requires all passengers (including children and infants) on all International flights to provide either a valid passport or a valid photographic EU or Swiss national identity card.

I would also like to inform you that valid in this case means not postdated or expired.

Should you have any further questions do not hesitate to contact us.

The link u sent is great ...I shall print that off so he can take it to the airport with him. Why couldn't they have sent me that link instead of the useless one they did send, and why tell me expired dated ID wasn't acceptable :(

Andy L>>That is good info to know for future ref. We didn't know such a card existed. Thank u very much.

Thanks again to one and all - much appreciated :)
