Pipex taken money even though the account is cancelled

I have just left Pipex.
Their admin is abysmal
Their broadband speed was pathetic- 1/6 of the speed of O2!!!!!
Their service was overpriced £19-99 compared to O2 £12-50!
And now they are trying to charge me after I have left.
Absolute garbage.0 -
I too have had issues with Pipex. Some of it is down to my own carelessness and naivety. But what they're doing is completely unlawful.
I switched to Talk Talk in the summer. I did not need to provide a MAC code for my broadband. It was a seamless change over. My phone line was cut off for about an hour during this period. Just like switching my other utility suppliers, I expected one to carry on from the other. It wasn't until 3 months later, upon close scrutinising of my direct debit account, I noticed Pipex were still billing me for my telephone and broadband services.
I called them up and they said that this is because I didn't cancel my account. How the hell can they bill me for a service they have not been providing me?? I wouldn't expect a bill from British Gas after switching to another gas supplier (as an example).
I even switched my line rental from BT to Talk Talk. BT have not charged me.0 -
I can sympathise with you all as I left Pipex after 12 years in May 08.
I had paid an annual subscription to March 09 by cheque as I noticed the payment details had disappeared from my account, but they disconnected my line for a month and sent a debt collection letter etc., Three complaints later through ISPA has not produced the refund that high level complaints promised to send
They didn't send my MAC code either, but now a very happy customer of Zen Internet;)
Pleased to say I finally received their cheque which I banked today
End of story ... hopefully :rolleyes:0 -

It didn't take very long folks ..... I am not yet free of them, have now received two phone messages about my homecall service ( which I have never had) they are going to put a bar on my line if I don't pay an outstanding debt which I don't have either ! The amount they are claiming is exactly the same amount they sent me to settle my claim !
Going round in circles  so back to ISPA again.0 -
Whilst we're moaning about Pipex, the entire Pipex ADSL address space is blacklisted by the Australian-based spam blacklist, SORBS. This means that emails sent by Pipex customers will be refused (perhaps silently) by any receiving email server which uses the SORBS blacklist.
SORBS is a despicable outfit which has a ludicrously high-handed listing policy and charges money for de-listing. However, it does claim that it will delist an incorrectly-listed ISP address space *if* the ISP itself contacts them about it.
Needless to say Pipex support knows absolutely nothing about this and will do nothing about it...Je suis Charlie.0 -

^ well email the CEO
You are at least consistent in your advice, even if it is hopelessly simplistic. Do you know the email address of Pipex's CEO? Do you think he/she would actually read it? Do you not perhaps think it would simply be deleted by some minion, or at best passed to the "Customer Services" department who are already proven to be useless?
No, as I intimated on another thread, if I wanted to complain to Pipex I would do it properly i.e. I would get the names and home addresses of all their directors from Companies House (it costs a quid) and write letters for them to open over their cornflakes. It never fails to get a response.
As it happens, though, I am not and never have been a customer of Pipex. My knowledge of these matters comes from advising a small business which was suffering from rejected emails thanks to this blacklisting. They were not interested in wasting their time sending complaining emails into the ether, they simply wanted their emails to get to their customers. My advice to them, which they took, was to move to Zen Internet, and all is now sweet.Je suis Charlie.0
