Sky Broadband - Reviews please.

I have been routing around the web and on this site regarding Sky Broadband and am on the verge of taking their full package option that gives tv, phone and internet.

What I am wondering is whether anyone has any specific comments with regards to the broadband aspect of the package.

I am currently with Ukonline which uses sky's hardware so if anyone has had experience of switching between Ukonline to Sky I would be interested to hear how it went.

Cheers

  • I switched from BT to Sky Broadband, connection is much more stable than it was with BT. It's very dificult to recommend a particular broadband supplier though as your exchange and distance from it plays a major part.

In terms of value for money it was excellent though, I used to pay approx. £45 for Sky TV, I now get broadband and phone for £55.

  • I am also thinking of switching to Sky from Bt broadband.

How many e-mail addresses can you have with Sky please.

I used to be on UKONLINE as well before switching to SKY. The switch over took 6 weeks and was an absolute nightmare. Even though they use the same equipment I had to cancell UKONLINE and then join SKY. MAC code was not available for transfer. Most of the blame lay with BT who continually told me that there was no broadband on my line when there was and would not remove the marker to let sky initiate thier service.

I also went from 13Mb on ukonline to 8mb with sky even though the exact same equipment was used. The only thing now is that I do have a more rock solid connection and never had a problem in the 7 months I have had it.

You get 1 main email account that you can then add an extra 10 "additional users" onto. If your line is stable at speed now it should remain so on Sky unless something goes wrong somewhere. I've been with them just over a year now and only had to call them once and that was right at the beginning because I needed my line stabilising. Since then it's been almost always 100% full speed on my line without issues.
  • We've also been with Sky for over a year now (moved from Tiscali) and have had no problems!

Visit: http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ for reviews on ISPs and real data.

Agree with Conor, Tiscali and many other "popular" brands are absolutely dire.
  • touch wood , moved from pipex to sky (3 months ago) and have had no problems at all!

bit of advise, they supply equipment, plug in and away it goes, if you have your own router and want to use it, they wont give you your username or password.. You can get it from the router, if you do a google search on sky +router name details username and password
  • sky aint that good, i woudl reccommened o2/be internet they have very good speeds, aswell as good upload speeds
  • Sky is brilliant i have sky world and there base net package for £34 a month
Better to understand a little than to misunderstand a lot.
