sonyericsson f500i.... remove cover??

I have bought my son a sonyericcson f500i for christmas..Opened the box to check contents and make sure it works,then the next step was to take it to be unlocked for his o2 sim, however I cannot remove the rear cover to insert battery.Can someone please tell this incompetent technophobe how I do this..thanks

Lift up the back cover by putting your finger nail into the indentation at the bottom. Use slight pressure and it pops off.

thanks for that smartass, I had tried that but was frightened to pull too hard in case i broke it.Tried again after reading your reply,bit more pressure this time,popped straight off...thanks again

I had exactly the same problem......and while blushing at feeling so useless, called the helpline number enclosed with the phone. They told me to force it!

They call themselves tmti (talk me through it) and apparently cover queries on all makes and models of phones.  

The girl I spoke to was extremely helpful and actually went to find this phone, then opened it herself, before telling me how to do it.
