You were misled in the other thread

The one offered by Aldi is suitable for E7 tariffs (as well as single rate tariffs)

The only issue is you may now have difficulty finding one - my local store had a huge stock on Sunday but completely sold out yesterday.

I have purchased what they guy suggested above, the current cost monitor. I just have a few questions if someone knows the answers:

1.) if you are on Economy 7 tariff, do you need a second clamp?
2.) if the answer to the above is no, does it simply change over to cheaper rate at a time st by the user?
3.) as in my post above i stated that i get three different rates, well the monitor allow me to put in 3 different rates?

    Thanks

No you don't need a second clamp
You have to set a different rate for night - the instructions show how to do this under "advanced features". Your day rate (13.41p) will be from about 7am to midnight and the night rate (4.99p) will be from midnight to 7am.
Your third rate is basically a standing charge of £135.48 per year (728KWh x 18.61p ) (the average house uses over 4000 kWh per year so most people will pay all this charge). Hence if you save energy it will only save you 13.41p/kWh until your usage is below 728kWh per year.

Remember to set the meter to GMT i.e don't use British Summer Time and don't change the clock when all of the other clocks are changed twice a year. The E7 meter I have is mechanical and just stays at the same time year round. If there are other more sophisticated meters about that do adjust to BST then obviously this won't apply.
