If you look at the Halifax release dates they're all over the place.

If the stamp duty change is going to have any impact it'll take a while to feed through. It won't have any meaningful change overall although it will have a small (and welcome) impact for a few individual purchases.

No - Halifax release dates the last few months have always followed a very regular and easy to predict pattern - they have always been on the morning of the rate-setting meeting, in the hope of swinging the vote in their favour.

Once, it could be an accident; but after the last few months, the pattern seems obvious.

Hope the MPC are made of sterner stuff.....

5% off. Just because it's a nice round number, and lots of people can get irate at me for daring to suggest such a big number.....

-3.5 but then it will be seasonally adjusted to 2.7%

Next month because of all the bad press 3.5% not adjusted. And I'm only bothering because I'm bored.

Spurs will win a game soon?
  • I reckon -1.5% this month, and higher, perhaps -2.3%, next month.
...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.
