OK... Forget "why"... Can anyone settle an argument as to whether cans of fizzy juice are at risk of exploding in the hold if put in normal luggage and checked in?

tbh I wouldn't...
my brother had his aftershave spill everywhere in his case one holiday - you could tell when he was coming near to you all holiday0 -
I would imagine that if the can is undamaged then it should be OK.
They won't explode - just leak all the contents at worse.
If the temperature is low ( as it is at 35000 ft ) the pressure in the cans will also be low so the risk is smaller.
Mind you - if they have POP in them anything could happen .....qui tacet consentire -

They're in the cabin though where it's pressurized. The hold isn't.
I personally wouldn't risk it. When I was married to my ex, we went on holiday to Gran Canaria. He took a huge rucksack instead of a case, and for some reason chucked a jar of marmalade in at the last minute. I didn't know it was there!
When we got to the apartment and were unpacking, he realised the jar had broken and all his clothes were covered in broken glass and marmalade :mad:Here I go again on my own....0 -
Although they are ok and won't explode, I would advise against drinking anything fizzy before or during a flight. I can't remember the exact reasoning but it's a proven fact that it's not good for you. I always wondered why I had bad stomach cramps during flights until I gave up the coke then I realised that it was fizzy drinks causing the problemI haven't got one!0

Can I just ask a simple question?
i) Why would you want to put a fizzy drink in your suitcase anyway?
Or is it just me that thinks its ironic0 -
Lol, I'm not sure if Tojo actually wanted to do it, he did say it was to settle an argument.
I recognise this type of thing....we have loads of 'discussions' like this in our house. :rotfl:Herman - MP for all!0 -
