I apologise if this subject has been raised before.

I have a 9 week old baby and am thinking of buying a stand alone oil filled heater to heat her nursery more efficiently. We are renting and have storage heaters at the moment and someone told me an oil filled plug in heater would be more cost effective to keep the room warm.

As we cant change our storage heaters does anyone know what plug in type heating is most cost effective to run?

i apologise in further reading i see there have been quite a few similar threads. What do you think to the halogen heaters?

As you say, lots of threads on this subject and all make the same point, namely that no room heater(other than storage heaters) produces more heat for the money than any other i.e. they are all as economical as the other.

A halogen heater would not be suitable for a baby. They 'direct' heat at an object (rather like a torch beam) and that heat can be quite fierce.

Certainly an oil filled radiator would be the best method of giving a safe background heat, but it is not cost effective.
