Who is liable for this crash

Oh so she hasn't had an actual offer from the insurance company just the engineer's opinion on the value of the damage to the car and if the insurers accept liabilty what he recommends they offer.
From what I understand of insurers they will send someone out to assess damage before deciding whether they accept liability. I'm sure they will decide whether to accept liability based on the damage to both cars, the postioning on the road and what both parties say happened. To do this they have to assess both cars.
His car has been repaired as I saw him driving it the other day. Secondly nobody from the insurers has contacted us about the accident and thirdly why would an insurance company send someone out at their expense before even discussing the accident with my daughter? They also arranged a rental car for when her car was being repaired( not relevant now though) However you may be right so we shall see.0 -
I can't believe this thread is still going.

Soon be over. Letter came from insurance company informing us that cheque for write off is on the way. She is keeping the car and once it has been motd next week ( a requirement of keeping a write off) a friend is going to fix the door. So after all the other driver did admit he was the person who caused the crash.0 -
After reading these last few posts I may uninsure my car. So your daugther was driving with no insuarance. Caused a crash....she isnt loosing her licence and an insurance company paid for the damage. Even though she wasn't insured.
Now, where that number for admiral? This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.0 -
Caused a crash....
No she didn't.
Where did you get that from??and an insurance company paid for the damage
The civil matter is that someone damaged her car and they paid.Even though she wasn't insured.
That's a seperate issue from the civil liability of someone damaging HER car. Now, where that number for admiral?
I hope you are joking.
She has been very lucky in a number of respects.0 -

Yes i was joking. Well, more being sarcastic than joking. I wouldn't dream of driving uninsured. I'd be too worried about being involved in a crash. Or causing a crash and being held liable. This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.0 -
however driving without insurance is the MSE thing to do:
Example: Insurance cost £500, Fine for driving without insurance (if you get caught) £250.
Seems a no brainer ...0 -
There is a flaw to this moneysaving tip. (Assuming you don't do any damage whilst driving uninsured).
You have to report the conviction to all insurers for the next 5 years at least, and as a result your premiums will be increased for at least the 5 years (and probably more, depending on your renewal date).0 -
We don't promote illegal money saving tips on here.
Otherwise we'd have stealing and burgling threads.
Moral duties is subjective but this is a legal issue.0 -
I think that the OP is a troll - she comes on here and stirs up people and sits back laughing at everyone. I think we should just let this emotive subject drop.0
