I have just gone through a huge collection of magazines i have stored in the loft must be well over 100 in my loft they range from Zoo, Nuts, GQ, FHM, Loaded, Maxim, Car Magazines, Men Fitness, Esquire, etc.... They range from Spring 2005 till Now. What shall i do with them i was tempted to just put them in the recycling but would people still buy them? I was thinking even for like 20p to 50p per one i would be getting bit of extra ££££ back which would help me with my Ski Season in France coming up.

Hello n57602000
I'll move your thread to the 'Ebay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales' board.
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. Some car mags sell but I think it tends to be particular issues people are after (e.g. their mate's car was featured with a fancy spray job and they missed buying it). So if you list a lot of separate ones on Ebay you might (especially with the new massive huge HUMUNGOUS PRICE HIKE) lose more in fees than you make. I would put the lot in a classified freead (but not Gumtree who are OWNED BY EBAY) and state you are willing to sell single issues if peeps are searching for something in particular.0
-
but if they're that keen i wouldn't let single issues go for less than a couple of quid, and that's local pickup.0

Of course you can stick individual ones on Ebid.net for free as long as you don't go for extras like gallery, FVF only. I just sold my first couple of items on Ebid.net, go Ebid!0

I've sold some old sci fi mags on ebay and a special copy of a Fortean Times that is apparently sought after due to its contents, but nothing else. Old magazines tend to have no intrinsic value apart from a few pence at a car boot. The problem is that they are going to cost you apprx £1.20 each to post so add a start price of say 99p on each and suddenly your old magazine starts to look dearer than buying it direct as a back issue. Check out a few on ebay though before you recycle them in case you have any that collectors want. The Fortean Times one I sold was by accident as I was browsing for something else, saw bids on a magazine that were in excess of £20, realised I had the same copy so listed it straight away. There was a huge run on that issue and the last one that sold went for just £1.70 so that's another market killed.
Incidentally, the issue was the Aleister Crowley special and the last seller would have got more if they had placed a realistic post and packing charge and taken out the silly terms and conditions from their auction. The previous one had gone for £6+ and had several bidders on it so if anyone does have that mag there is still a chance of a bit of profit in it.
The other thing that has no value, and I get enquiries about twice a month from people asking me to sell on their ones, are the part works in binders. The sort of thing where you buy an issue once a fortnight, have them bound as collectors edition books. They are rubbish, you can't even pay to take them away and if one more person asks me to sell their complete Star Trek or car book for anything over 2 shillings and 6d I will cry.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Copies of FHM with decent cover girls do very well - I sold about 25 a few years back, and the one with Gillian Anderson on the cover went for about £40.
There are categories for the magazines so have a browse through to see what sort of prices they go for, then stockpile some for a cheap listing day - 5p and free gallery makes it worthwhile to list them as an auction format.
Also offer international postage, most of mine went to the US and Thailand for some reason?!<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -
I don't think Zoo or Nuts are likely to be worth selling on eBay, though if you're doing a car boot sale you could either sell them individually for 5-10p each or in big bundles for £1 or whatever.
Some glossy magazines with early cover pictures of popular celebrities will generate interest. For those that are left unsold, you could try giving them away either to doctors, dentists etc for their waiting rooms or on Freecycle, where someone will almost certainly take them off your hands.0 -
you cld also try a job lot, but problem is weight and postage. i waited till cheap listing days did this a few times, sold a few, others were re-cycled.
Still have some but just don't have the heart to bin them0
