Talk Talk moving house woes

I hope someone can advise me on what to do in this situation.

My flatmate and I are moving this weekend. I emailed TalkTalk via the website over a month ago to tell them about this. I totally forgot to chase it up when I didn't hear back from them. We're moving into the flat currently occupied by my boyfriend, who also has TalkTalk phone and broadband. He is transferring his services over when he moves on Saturday. I thought that the move would therefore be really straightforward, as surely all they have to do is transfer our account over onto the existing one?

Wrong.

Apparently, the only way to avoid any charges in this situation is for my boyfriend to do nothing when he moves out. We should ask TalkTalk to transfer our account over, which will take four or five weeks. Once this is done, he can THEN transfer his services over, which will take another four to five weeks - leaving him with no services for up to ten weeks. We're being told that if we try and do it all at the same time, I am likely to have to pay £112 for them to reconnect my line, because when he moves out the line will be disconnected.

What kind of idiocy is this? What can I do? Apparently it'll cost us £70 to cancel our contract early. We're moving early because our landlord is evicting us, so we're already hard up and really cannot afford either the £70 or £112 charge. Does anyone have any helpful suggestions or advice on what to do? If the line was not TalkTalk I could understand, as they'd have to unbundle it at the exchange which is costly for them, but in this situation that's already been done.
the truth is out there
