  • Hi Lunar, it is great to see you have a new diary in time for the new arrival!

How are you going on? I am so ready to go into labour now as am 38+2 and really tired of being this enormous *give me my body back please*

Congrats on the debt busting you seem to have made a huge amount of progress this month. I wish I had got myself in gear and got some stuff on ebay.

Best of luck and hope he makes an appearance soon!

I have been out this morning and bought lots of christmassy bits and pieces. Found a really nice idea for place settings over on the special occasions board. whoever hosts christmas normally buys a small gift for everyone for the table and its my turn this year. so i will be making the pots of gold for everyone. I have managed to get everythingi need for them for £8 minus the cost of the scratch cards which will be £9 a bit nearer the time. I will have 9 people for dinner including me and normally spend £4-5 each so i am seeing this as very MSE.

Just got my last pigsback voucher through from boots, think i will give up with that site now it just doesnt seem worth the time you have to put in to it!

must remember to try having some no spend days this month. I really should get up and get some ironing done, not got much to do and i worked so hard i really dontwant to get behind on it again!

Hello Lunar, we've not met before, but just wanted to offer my best wishes for your iminent arrival. Well done for getting so sorted for xmas. My second baby was due early December, so I went mad getting sorted, and I've never looked back since!

Every year since then I've always made an early start to it and the whole experience is a lot less stressful. :D

I don't know if you're planning to buy new baby xmas gifts - and I don't blame you if you do, but in my experience family and friends always go overboard. So if you wanted to be DFW about it, keep your own spending to a minimum, and let them spend all their money instead!! Baby gets loads of stuff and doesn't know any different about where it came from!

Best of luck for the weeks to come.
    Liz

Thanks Liz, Im goint to try really hard not to go too mad on baby gifts at christmas for exactly for the reasons you said, he will get loads from people. I thought i would put most of the money i would have spent into his savings account i will open. then just get something that will be a keepsake for when he is older to mark his first christmas. then just a few things that i can wrap up for the stocking i have bought him.

    Savings account, how very MSE!!!:j

Good to get them started young.

Don't forget to invest your Child Trust Fund voucher, and claim child benefit and tax credits, that payment every 4 weeks can make a big difference, and because it's 4 weekly not monthly then 1 month you get it twice - Result!!!!!

I'm sure you're more than aware of all of this, I hope that didn't come across as patronising, it wasn't meant that way.

After all you've gone through to reach this point I'll bet you can't wait to meet your little treasure. Children are so rewarding - but they can often drive you up the wall. You spend the first 2 years of their life teaching them to walk and talk and the next 16 years to sit down and shut up!!:D

    Eeeeeeeek! How soon?!!!
Love the new diary, and I'm so chuffed for you about absolutely everything - the baby, the debt (that's such a tiny number now compared to what it was), how great you and your OH are together and how annoyingly organised you are for Christmas!

I'm going to PM you my mobile number - let us know when baba arrives. Good luck!!!

Lizzy, I dont think I will be able to get tax credits due to my other halfs wage but will be paying the child benefit everyone gets into his account. I will also get about £375 from westfield i will save for him.

Its definatly not patronising, im really finding it hard to get my head around things. I have no clue what account to open for him. I think its £1200 a year you can save tax free but I really dont want to put it in a risky account that could end up loosing money. Any advice apriciated greatly.

Panda, the debt might be loads lower now but in the next few months the rate at which i can pay it back will really slow down. so my debt free date will shift a bit. The last loan will end in October 2011 so that is the absolute latest I will be debt free. My egg loan now ends august 2010 if i only make the min payments and the barclay card will reduce £100 per month until its gone. I will have to do another balance transfer with it this time next year to keep it interest free.

Even if i only manage to make minimum payments my debt free date is not a million miles away. Just have to make sure I keep away from credit for good now with the execption of a mortgage of course.

Thanks for the encouragment penguin, im also hoping for a quick and easy delivery. im hoping for a water birth but it just depends if they havea pool available on the big day. How is the weightloss going? Ill be joining you on that mission ASAP.

  • Lunar, just wondering would you fancy being a 'virtual' weightloss buddy after we both have the babies? (although I'll have to be sensible with it as plan to breastfeed). I'll have to do something though as am closely starting to resemble a hippo.
