Ryanair - Free flights?

last night I was looking for cheap flights to Barcelona during the Scottish tattie holidays (two weeks in October). Booking from a Scottish airport is usually a wee bit expensive so I checked out Newcastle...I was just looking for the absolute cheapest bottom line...not really checking too hard into details. Ryanair came up with a fantastic bottom line booked it..double checked it..it was a free flight...can that be right?

Wasn't till afterwards I realaised the flight was free?????

Phatbear, I read the thread as the OP just wondering if the flight itself is meant to be free or if there's been some sort of error. I don't think he/she is complaining about it at all

Doubt that, they could give flights away free, you know really free, and free drinks and a free cab to the airport and free massages on the flight and free porters to carry bags at both ends and someone would still complain that the complimentary nuts did not have a "warning may contain nuts" sticker on it.

Amy you are right and Phatbear hey quit being grizzly LOL...I did some searching. Not complaining at all - had done a brief search on here and yes (OK I searched again)......if you scroll back for a bit you get the answer that Ryanair every now and again have free flights and it's OK, but I initially got more info that Ryanair are fickle and scary about policy and I freaked a bit and posted. I was on the point of booking my accomodation and then worried that this must be a computer mistake and was wary of spending any more money on this vacation till I knew this was dead gen'. If I loss £120 I will cry a bit but it won't bankrupt me, if I book a €500 apartment on top of that and can't use it I will freak ...I don't want Ryanair saying "this is a mistake and we have the right to charge you more or pretend like the flight never existed". I have checked out the terms and conditions and try as I might I can't work out if this comes out in my favour or not...I have a problem reading this type of info and have been told it is because I have adult ADD........personally I just think it is confusing, unless you have a certain type of brain ADD or not.
I am not a seasoned traveller per se..travel for business long haul always booked by a 3rd party..never do it myself..etc. .... have never really done this type of booking and am really cautious, just about to come out of a long term debt situation unscathed and I really don't need to waste money unecessarily or take risks and now I am sad that maybe just when I thought I was being clever I made a mistake.

Some people are just on here to have a go at everyone new, I have used Ryanair a few times and have had no problems with any of the "free flights" I have booked. I expect someone thought you might be being sarcastic as there are some really good offers on Ryanair from time to time where the flights may cost between 1pence, £5 or £10 and there would be no taxes on top, the only other charges would be for debit/credit cards. As an example I paid 2pence for a return flight to Stockholm in June and debit card charges of £3, then checked in online so no check in charges and no luggage apart from rucksack which was classed as cabin baggage. If you look regularly you will see the offers change all the time. I also must say I have had no trouble with cancellations or other things on any of the flights I have been on and have been glad of the opportunity to go to places I would not have been able to afford had it not been for these offers:T

Cool Cardiff, thanks for the reassurance. None of us will need more than hand luggage. The only thing I was hacked off about was the debit card charge...which seemed unreasonable and also bizare but the costs were so low I wasn't going to complain, next time I try to book anything like this I will make sure I have a Solo as an option...I was in such a hurry to grab the bargain I weighed up £24 as a charge and thought that probably the jouice was worth the squeeze.

Okey dokey fair play to ya if you were'nt moaning about ryanair, think im just a tad battle hardened from people coming on here moaning about paying £10 for a flight with ryanair, im no fan of some of their working practices however they afford people the opportunity for people to travel cheap as chips to mainland europe etc for cheaper than a train to london.

If i can offer you any advice re ryanair is read everything twice, check and re-check your booking, ie names spelt correctly as any mistakes will cost more than the tickets you've shelled out for.

Of course getting an electron card will make your cheap flights cheaper, which is a touch.

and what exactly is your point? :rolleyes:

To the OP, generally you'll find the "free" flights have quite high taxes and charges so the better flights are when you pay say £1/5/10 for a flight with no taxes and charges but usually these aren't available during school holidays etc
