0870 from mobile

Hi

For the next few days my girlfriend will be staying in the Castleford Premier Inn, Her mobile has died and the phone cards that she bought to use from her room do not allow her to dial a mobile and i do not have a landline.

Therefore i am calling her, but i have to call her reception through the 0870 number and Im sure that my Vodafone bill will be huge by the end of the week if we have our normal length conversations.

What are my alternatives? I have looked on saynoto0870 and I havent been lucky in finding the correct hotel.

Thanks
Tim

seems a sensible thing to do Mac

Someone will probably find it for you now anyway

and we will never, ever return.

That does sound like the simple solution, and I cant say that i have asked them directly.

I phoned the wrong Castleford Prem Inn and the girl there gave me the number for this one. I did ask her for the local number, but she couldn't understand what i meant!!

My girl friend has also said she will try and ask at reception for this number.

But if she is unsuccessful then I will give that a go tomorrow.

More money saving ways are needed, please keep them coming.

Tell the receptionis that you are ringing from a telephone box and that your
own phone bars 0870 numbers, that one usually works

What the full address for the premier inn.... Have located a few 01 numbers but not sure what one relates to the hotel

Try this one if the address is correct:

    Castleford Premier Lodge
    01977 665400
    Commerce Park, Castleford, WF10 5TG
  • you could sign up to Skype and get a £1.99/month incoming landline number, then get her to call that?

yes thats the right post code for where she is staying, but no one is answering the phone number given right now. I'll try it again later though.

    Thanks

    Top man, this sounds ideal.

Is there a 12 month contract?? or is it a pay as you go type of service?

    Thanks
    Tim
Rather strangely, that website doesn't seem to actually give the tariff for 0870 calls

There are plenty of similar services. See the MSE Callchecker for details, and concentrate on the ones with ordinary landline access.

I'd suggest a 18185 account, which you can set up to use from either a landline or a mobile, pay slightly in arrears as you use it (by direct debit, or debit or credit card, and they don't bill you for a few months when you're hardly using it)

    The one I posted
have no 'time-related' contracts, not a pre-paid service, they bill postpaid, theres no comitment to use & rates (as emailed to me) are:

They can email you all they like, but they don't have the 0870 rates published on the site, which is what I said.

As some of their other rates (e.g. int'l calls) are 5 times or more higher than competitors, I think it's worth also looking at others in the MSE Callchecker, which is what I also said.
