Valli - I'd LOVE a kenwood, but can't justify the cost or space. It's definitely the best option as you can add every gadget known to man to it (now we know how you fly so effectively - it's doing the washing up and hoovering for you ;) ). It's much better for baking than a magimix as it whisks properly.

I learnt to make tiramisu while working in a restaurant in Florence years ago (before it was popular over here) so have a recipe that feeds 8-12 if anyone is interested. If you have a food processor its easy (although we had to whisk a dozen egg whites at a time with a balloon whisk in a copper bowl  ). It freezes extremely well, so everyone who has been scared by Triker could make it now. It only needs to be taken out 12-24 hours before use. Let me know if you want me to post the recipe (from my head, so will require some thought...)

I'm nowhere near Polka's standard with cakes, but did spend quite a lot of time working in restaurants/doing private catering, so have stacks of recipes that feed 8 or more and freeze well if anyone is in need of them!

My current favourite pudding to make is apple meringue... I must get people over soon so I have an excuse to make it!

Rach - whatever you get, don't get the chrome version - it's just more to polish! White is usually cheaper and less hassle!
