Telewest Broadband

Anyone on here have good/bad experiences with Telewest for broadband? I am currently getting ADSL with NDO but my BT exchange only supports 512kb max and I am after a faster connection. Can get 1mb with Telewest soon to be upgraded to 4mb for the same money but want some feedback before I switch.

I am on the 256kbs service which I believe will be upgraded to 512kbs at some stage.

I run two pc's via a router. Never had any major problems apart from there IT team being a little bit hopeless telling two different things but that was fixed quickly. And it is a 0845 number rather than being free from a Telewest phone.

It does not seem to have any major outtage problems. I seem to remember only half a dozen times in the last 3/4 years I have been with them, having down time. And once or twice it may have been out for longer than couple of hours.

When I joined they provided a cable modem whos rental price is included in the cost of broadband. Had mine as long as I have had the service, nearly got a new one when I moved as they could not get it to work but did in the end.

The installers arrived with the allotted time and did a quick job and where really nice.

Not sure what else to say apart from that I have not had any major problems with them.

    Yours

Been with them for 5 years and I must say are very good. There have been some outages but I could probably count the number on one hand which isn't bad. Even knocked £10 a month of my 2Mb when I complained that they were no longer competative. Totally uncapped too. Despite racking up an obscene amount of downloads per month, never had a single mail from them to complain!.

Not looking forward to them merging with the NTL muppets!

They need to stop wasting money on advertising ie leaflet drops and postal offers and put some money into the infrerstructure.
I get leafleted at least once a week and allthough the 6 houses on my terrace are within 50 meters of the main underground cable they will not connect, website, emails and phonecalls all get the same reply " Cable is not available in your area but we can provide up to 2000 ADSL " . OH Yer ,at 50% more than I currently pay !

Been with T'west broadband on their 512k for years and had no problems except for mail problems about a year or so ago. Would definitely recommend them for broadband but not for TV or telephone though.

Their 512k costs £17.99 and this will be upgraded to 2mb in next month or so for the same price.

Its also important to note that BY it TOTALLY uncapped, and without any fair usage policy (except on the 256 service i think, where they 'recomend' 750mb PER DAY, but as far as i know its not enforced)

I think its the only trully uncapped service in the UK

You may think you wont reach your current providers CAP, but when the BBC starts letting you download TV programs, you will.
