It means that as long as your line is functioning correctly and setup is correct you should see speeds of up to 5-6Mb. Do you have a slow speed issue or something?0
-
To add to paulk's comment, it means your speed is 0.5mb (half a meg) which is a lot slower than the 5-6mb you could be getting.0

its not connected to BT so you know its impartial.
When you did your test were you using the net (or other pcs on your network) were you downloading stuff (all that can skew the results).
Also the 8mb is an UPTO figure, depending on the distance from the exchange/hardware coming into your property."Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"

Better numbers to post would be your SNR, Attenuation and sync speeds showing on the router.0

What test did you use? Is it returning the result as bytes/s rather than bit/s? If that is the case you have no real problem. After the uprising of the 17th June The Secretary of the Writers Union
Had leaflets distributed in the Stalinallee Stating that the people
Had forfeited the confidence of the government And could win it back only
By redoubled efforts. Would it not be easier In that case for the government
To dissolve the people
And elect another?0 -

About 1.5Mb. Are you on your main telephone socket with no plug in extension leads in use? Are all telephone sockets that have a telephone/ sky tv etc plugged into them filtered? Do you suffer noise on the line at all?0

Main thing here is - are you being provided a DSL Max product (up to 8mb product) by your ISP? Are are they providing a fixed 2mb product?0

Is your router downstairs or upstairs? If upstairs try moving it to the main socket downstairs. Really the router should be on the first telephone socket on the line as it enters the house. Do any of your sockets have a split going left to right just above the screws that hold it to the wall?0
