need cheapest broadband deal

Hi
Have searched the interent and this site, and have ended up more confused then before. I have just moved into a flat, I have a bt phone line on option 1, currently using a free month on aol dial up but really want to find a cheap broadband deal, the cheapest possible. I use the internet for emails, messenger, banking, browsing etc, downloading music, mostly in the evening, but do want the option to log in during the day too.
ANY HELP WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
Thanks
;Laura

a cheap solution... if you would also like a phone service, zazizam offer broadband for £11.99 a month, or £13.99 without the phone. it comes with 2GB usage, but as a low usage user, which it appears you will be, then this should be ok for you. It also comes with 2mb speed - which is pretty fast. if you need a modem, ebuyer is the place you want to go, as you can get filters, and modem for under £20

i've been with them for 18 months, and cannot fault them

Another good deal is V21 : https://www.V21.co.uk £11.98 per month, only £9.98 if you take their phone deal, which doesn't stop you using PSC's like 1899 etc.

  • I joined UKonline a few weeks ago. The speed is 1Mb/s with unlimited downloads, connection fee £25.00, monthly cost £9.99. You do not get a router included in this deal. I bought a wireless router for my laptop although they do offer routers at reasonble cost. I took a little time to set it up and since then I have had no problems, speed is always good. Can't comment on support since I haven't needed it. The only snag is that your exchange must be fitted with UKonline's equipment. You can check if it is available by typing in your postcode and phone number into their website.
  • E7 gives you unlimited broadband for £10 per month with free domain name registration and hosting, static ip address, and unlimited email addresses.
I've been with them for 15 months and the service hads been excellent.
For some reason somebody (big brother) doesn't want you to know about this as this is the third time I have had to post it !

Yes they are very good - though as with all isps they have the occasional problem - I have had 2 outages each of a few hours (caused by BT) but in each case was compensated by a 2 week and a 1 week extension to my contract - great !

Most isps allocate an internet protocol (ip) address each time you connect so you get a different address each time. This can be unhelpful especially if you want people to know your ip address, or if you want to run a web server. Most isps therefore charge £2-5 for a static - or permanent - ip address. This is free with e7.

I have sent you a PM with further info

    Cheers
    Mike

  • Unless I'm missing something E7 still seems to be an annual upfront payment rather than a monthly payment for this service.

I signed up for Euro1net.com's double speed offer
sign up for 512 at £10/month but get 1m for duration of contract.

if you use a referal you get an extra month free.

it is a pre-pay deal though.
Plenty of mistakes, but no regrets. :)

https://www.adslguide.org.uk is probably the best independent site in the UK for advice on choosing a broadband supplier.

Look HERE and you can tick up to six different suppliers to compare them next to each other (hover your mouse over the figures to see how many votes were cast). The ratings are formed from votes by users of each ISP and are scored on speed, reliability and customer service.

Look HERE and scroll down. You will find individual forums for most ISPs out there. This is a good place to get an idea if there are any problems with the companys. If you see loads of complaints in a forum, it is a good sign that all is not well with the service provided.
