Have started again and put Snap-To On
The grey bar now reads; -
Disk space remains for recording 10 hours and 6 minutes.
Project rate 44100. Selection - 1:13.000000 (1:13.000000 min:sec) [Snap-To On]Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
Hmm. Other than resource conflicts / spyware etc. (does the PC generally run well?) I can't think of what else to try. Yes computer runs OK
Maybe try halfing the project sampling rate (drop down box in the bottom left corner,) to 22050Hz, although this might cut a little of the high end from the recording (it shouldn't matter too much if the source is an old cassette, and it's contents are voice,) Can't see that box, only one titled Audio Track with an arrow, on clicking that arrow I get, amongst others, Set Sample Format and a choice of; -
16-bit, 24-bit, and 32-bit float this one is ticked
However I have just found the last part of that drop down box has "set rate"from 8000hz through to 96000, plus "other"
Halfing the sample rate will reduce the load on your system / hard discs, and might allow it to record for longer, if the drop outs were caused by resource shortages.
Another possibility - do you have other programs running which might take control of your systems audio mixer? Anything multimedia-based running in the quickstart toolbars?! Not to my knowledge

As per my post above #32, I have just recorded the full recording,( whilst being in front of the screen so that I could press record again if it stopped), without stopping, and the only different thing I did was to change from "Snap Off" to "Snap On"
Total length of recording 46 minutes and 48 seconds.
Many thanks for all help givenDon`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -

Too big for e-mail, you could upload it to a filesharing site so they cold download it or rip it to MP3 format which would be a smaller file size that you could e-mail. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Hehe..Yes...export as MP3.
You may wish to "select all" before you do this to make sure you get the whole recording.--- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---
If you cannot scroll up in Google Chrome, google:
"google chrome scroll fix"
I have released a program to fix it.

It is saved as WAV on my desktop at the moment, how would I go about "selecting all" and exporting as MP3Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -

once the .wav file is open press CTRL and A that will select all the wav file, then goto file->export as mp3 (if you installed that plug in i mentioned earlier in this thread)."Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"

Do you mean the file as it is in Audacity? As that is now closed and the file is on my desktop and I do not appear to be able to "open" it except to play it, and that does not give me the option to "export" as anything.
Re the link that is in reply #12, (plug in?), I downloaded Audacity,(obviously) should I have downloaded anything else? and if so is it to late now?Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0
