Persimmon not handed over site so bins are overflowing

  • I understand what you are saying and agree that the council aren't responsible for clearing rubbish from private land but I thought they offered some degree of protection in such cases. In the case of fly tippers they investigate and try and prosecute them as a deterrant or charge the owner of the land, in this case they know who is responsible for the land so should be able to compel them to rectify the problem.

Appologies if I'm getting off track but by identifying the main stakeholder in all this I know who to address my complaint towards. At the moment the main stakeholder seems to be the house holders and it sounds like the only guaranteed long term solution will be litter picking for the duration we live in our homes. I know that is probably a bit extreme but I see many other parks in neighbouring areas with no such problems so whatever is being done for them must be a solution here also.

  • OK - someone has a general H&S duty in relation the playground.

If that's Persimmon, then it's their problem so direct all your energy & attention to them.

Whoever "owns" the bins is responsible for having them emptied.

Think about it ...... people can't just place bins "out there" and expect that by doing nothing they are magically going to get emptied
    Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac ;)

Go to the press if you fancy having your face in the papers.

Its one option but I think its an if all else fails one unfortunately. If I draw too much attention to the problem I could seriously dent any chance of selling now or in the future.

I have now contacted the council who have sent my complaint onto environmental services and operations. I have also submitted a complaint to Persimmon mentioning the fact they obviously have a management company as I see someone come to cut the grass every few weeks. In the mean time I have cut my sale price to vastly undercut all other similar style houses on the development.

On second thoughts there is probably no harm in mentioning that I could inform the local press if I get no response. As it happens I know someone who could help me in my cause.

    Thanks.
