Money from the bank... before the government gets it!

This wont cost you anything but this isn't exactly a freebie.
It is defo worth a read though.

Just been having a read through o/h's The Sun newspaper and was horrorfied to read that the government could be getting their hands on more of OUR money!!

READ THIS ARTICLE

It will take five mins of your time but could be worth a few quid, alot of money... or nothing at all!!!

Think back 15 years+ could you have an account somewhere?
Maybe you had thirty quid in and never bothered with it, lost your bank book, moved home or got married?

There are many reasons you could have lost or forgotten about a bank account but it is important you act now!!!

THINK HARD VERY HARD, of all the places you have ever had acounts, what accounts you have had and most importantly could still have!

It is expected the Government will start grabbing unclaimed money next year.

They say they will use the funds for “worthy” causes — MPs’ expenses, foreign junkets and management bonding weekends, perhaps. OK, the causes may turn out to be a little worthier than that — but that’s not the point.

Is this what you want to happen to your money???

I hope this is of use to someone!

Sorry this isn't a proper freebie but I think it is very important and wouldnt want any of you to lose out!

The money is still yours. You don't lose it. All they are doing is taking the unclaimed money from the banks for their own purposes, but they'll still give it back if you subsequently claim it.

How many MSEs do you really think there are with dormant accounts bulging with money?

Thank you - I have two dormant accounts which I have been meaning to chase up and this has prompted me to fill in the very quick and easy form on the mylostaccounts website. Sadly they both only had about a fiver in them but hey, every little helps lol!

this article reminded me of a savings account i had in school and i called my mum and she took a few hours to remember but then found a book amongst other memorys has £36.43in it hehe!

And no you dont lose out as you can get it back off them or so they say! (how long will that last!!!)
BUT if you never realise you have it you never claim!

    Thanks for correcting me bristol!

  • Done this one I got a fat £2-50 for a £1 deposit in National Savings form around 1985 not much in my case but if you've got more than that and for a longer period...

...so if you had £10 equivalent to £25

A credit card with £1000 @ 20% paying £20 approximate minimum payment per month would be £909 interest over 8 years using the minimum repayment calculator.

paying the £25, assuming you got the money today, would reduce to £831, £78 less, over 7 years and 7 months.
