ive got no protection on my laptop!! help

my free mcfee security on my laptop ran out yesterday...where can i get free cover or cheap! and which should i get..

im a real techno phobe so please traet me carefully!!

Try Avira AntiVir. It's free and easy to use.

Make sure you uninstall McAfee using Add/Remove programs and then run the removal tool to get rid of it completely:

So to clarify, install ONE of the above, all are tried and tested but everyone has their favourite.
Any of them will get you going and probably give better protection than McAfee.

I'd second this advice - I'm not techy either but installed both with no problem and 6 months later all is well - Norton previously allowed in a virus which made a real mess.

I agree totally with this. It doesn't seem to be nearly as good as Avira AntiVir or Avast.

I have avg, have used it for years, luckily no problems. Should I change, use another?

I installed Avira AntiVir on my sister's laptop, and on its first scan it found 20-odd trojans (!) that AVG missed.

I also know quite a few people who switched to it from AVG because of performance problems and they're very happy.

I don't use Windows myself but from what I've read, AVG isn't one of the best free AVs, and my experience with other people's computers backs that up.

Of course, YMMV.
