I've got the feeling that it's a "false positive" by Bitdefender as nothing else finds it ??

I did try Malwarebytes and CCleaner in Safe mode. I will try the programs you suggest Rik, Thanks.

Browntoa if it is a false positive can you suggest another online scan they may offer different results ?
Also, any other suggestion to why the processor would be running so high ? It doesn't do it for short periods, it literatly hours, even when I haven't opened any new programs.

  • Try Kaspersky online scan - it highlights problems and does not remove any files;

Please do a scan with Kaspersky Online Scanner

Note: If you are using Windows Vista, open your browser by right-clicking on its icon and select 'Run as administrator' to perform this scan.

Click on the Accept button and install any components it needs.
    • The program will install and then begin downloading the latest definition files.
    • After the files have been downloaded on the left side of the page in the Scan section select My Computer
    • This will start the program and scan your system.
    • The scan will take a while, so be patient and let it run.
    • Once the scan is complete, click on View scan report
    • Now, click on the Save Report as button.
    • Save the file to your desktop.
    • Copy and paste that information in your next post.

Do you use Firefox 2 or 3? Id suggest 3 if you dont already.

I would then suggest opening CCLEANER and going to TOOLS then STARTUP
Go through each and every one to determine wether or not they can be stopped from loading up at startup (Google if unsure, if REALLY unsure then post on here to see if anyone here can determine what it is). Obviously antivirus, firewall, sound drivers etc mustnt be stopped.
Im talking about things like msn messenger (Which can be stopped from loading at START UP within the programs settings anyways)
Just stop ALL uncessessary programs from loading at startup. If that doesnt fix our problem then it could be your computers on its way out or theres something 'hidden' thats hogging the resources.
Your antivirus doesnt go into a SCAN mode as soon as it boots does it?

    I have the latest Firefox.

Not sure about the anti virus, I use Avast and haven't changed any settings.

Kaspersky is still scanning, will do all other checks later.

OK, the Kaspersky online scan came back as clear, no infections.

I re-booted in Safe mode and run Spybot, Adaware, A-squared and Malwarebytes.

    Malwarebytes showed nothing.
    Spybot showed nothing.
    Adaware had a few cookies.

A-squared had 1 medium rated detection (now cleared). Here is the log.....

Well im guessing you have the full version which means its running alongside the antivirus you already have. Thats NOT good. So best uninstall to be on the safe side
