Satellite engineer cannot find EutelSat 16dg east W2

Options
Hi there, a satellite engineer has been to my property to install a satellite dish for my digitalb sports package.
I live in the OL10 post code region, North West and the dish was 88cm Triax.

What can be wrong?

Is it definitely pointed in the right direction?

(poor state of affairs with dilution of "engineer" nowadays, a "satellite engineer" to me means someone that designs the electronics and propulsion of satellites and works for NASA etc.)

  • Yes he has the satellite checker thing. it were programmed in it for that signal. he can get the signal vertical but not horizontal or sommet?

If he can get vertical but not horizontal, that suggests that either the LNB or the tuner is duff. Aiming it, you either get it or you don't. The fact he's got something suggests its pointing right.
  • 16 degree is hard to get a signal on as you have to have it spot on, is it a motorised system or fixed?

I fitted a dish the other week a 88cm one i did manage to get it on 16 degree, but the slightest movement up or down the signal would drop imediately.

If it is a motorised dish the arc as to be set right for the motor to pull the dish around to hit each satellite, the ones that are easy to get are astra 28, degree,19 degree, 13 degree and 1 degree which are very easy to find even if it is slightly out but 16 degree as to be spot on.

If its a motorised sysyem most people set the motor on 0, then line the dish up dead straight and locate 1 degree, then when you get the strongest signal on 1 degree with your motor set at zero, secure everything.

You then should be able to opperate the motor and the arc should pick up all satellites as long as the dish is big enough.

oh and by the way if you want it for premiership football and its a fixed dish point it a 1 degree as its a lot better that 16 degree, if you need any help pm me.

    hope this helps confused

An engineer is a person professionally engaged in a field of engineering. Engineers are concerned with developing economical and safe solutions to practical problems, by applying mathematics and scientific knowledge while considering technical constraints. As such, the work of engineers is the link between perceived needs of society and commercial applications. Some consider this profession to be the link between art and science.
I myself have worked as an engineer, both Electrial/Electronic and IT industry, but a guy who comes and installs an Ariel or Dish is not an Engineer.
