Quote Martin Lewis's MSE and get what you want!

Well I just rang Orange to follow up on previous moans about charging for 0800's , and was read the prepaired statement as usual.
Then I qouted this SITE as evidence that there was a 0800 bundle that could be added..........CS operator said "no"..." there's no such thing"....I insisted it was from a REPUTABLE internet site and would be very annoyed if I discovered that ORANGE were lying to me and that here at Money saving expert they were right.

So the CS then speaks to a supervisor.........guess what....I get the 0800 bundle applied by a "Speacialist "team within Orange.

Now you might ask whats all the fuss about ?......well the answer is I cancelled my BT contract 5 months ago and rely soley on a mobile within my Household..............not an extremme step in this day and age really....and hence have no access at all to freephone numbers whatsoever, unlike some who could just use their landline instead.

Just shows what can be done - if you ask!!

Now I wish we could do away with the BT line - 'cos it's only really used for internet connection!

    Anyone worked that one yet??

    VB

    hmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!1
    seems interesting and inviting.
please explain how in simple terms to a not so techie person
    than ks
    Nice to save.
  • Well the offer from NTL ran from feb this year til end october. It was 1mb cable broadband for 9.99, to new customers and was also offered to existing customers who rang ntl and complained about the new deal being offered.

As its NTL cable you are offered services in packages

    Telephone
    Broadband
    TV
    either single packages or combinations.

Soon as I realised this I ditched my dial up needing a Bt line saving at least 10pound Bt line rental a month and took the NTL broadband offer. I then rely soley on my mobile for calls , with the inclusive allowance deal I had with Orange and cashback of 100 pounds, I was very pleased.
I have not missed the BT line at ALL, and the additional benifit of having NO annoying sales cold calls is great.
The NTL offer now is 17.99/month but still worth it if you can save by cancelling BT and use your mobile to the max call allowance,or even use the saving to up your mobile tarrif!
  • use this cost comparison here
    http://www.home.ntl.com/page/broadbandget

but I"m getting it for 9.99/month so I'm well pleased

I think the NTL offer ended in October. I got Broadband ONLY for £9.99 in September with £25 cashback.

    Vansboy,
I got rid of my BT land line and use VOIP with a headset for calls ( beware 999 requires a Mobile though). Have a geographical telephone number for incoming calls with Sipgate, and use Voipcheap for making calls. There are threads about how this works on the Home Phones board.

Have you got further details about the free 0800 package? I'm on an Orange OVP t-mobile package and the other half has the orange OVP O2 100 package but we both pay for 0800 calls, how can I get them for nowt?

    Cheers!
  • You cant get them NOW becuase you never had them BEFORE.

AS OVP says its an equivalent price plan....ie if its the equivalent of another networks charging plan and they charge for 0800's....then so will the Orange OVP charge for 0800's..............ie tmobile charge for 0800's.....so the OVP will ALSO.

People like myself on standard Orange tarrifs joined with free 0800's.....now they have changed to charging.........breach of 12 month contract!

They, Orange, introduced another less well known change a few months back.
Calling Customer services on o2 is chargeable , and many other networks as well, so if you are on a OVP, then you should be charged everytime you call Orange CS as well, cos you cant pick what benefits you want from the equivalent tarrif .Equvalent means everthing is equivalent...so be carefull!

Also Itemised billing is charged for on other tarriffs, so expect an itemised billing charge on a OVP tarrif as well!

so , I think, all calls to CS on a ovp tariff are charged according to the equivalent networks charges for calling CS, in the case of o2 very expensive!
