i used to work at butlins , - i would suggest you take bags of coins with you for arcades rides etc.
drinks are expensive so think london prices and you will have enougn for that.
you will have to pay for pics of characters unless you take your own camera.
everything is aimed at getting you to spend money so be careful

i agree go off site for food

  • Hiya, I also go for SC, and have been to Butlins many times. Tomorrow we are off to a diffrent holiday park in Devon. Today I will be packing a kikchen box containing - mugs, frying pan, spatular, washing up liquid, cloths. Tea, coffee & sugar. Eggs, bacon, b. beans, bread, marg, carton of orange. - that will give us a choice of breakfasts. Offer bacon sandwishes around and I bet their will be many takers. We are also taking a flask as we are going out in the car. When we were at Butlins though we always took a drink and crisps to the pool for after a swim. I can't say we ever buy coffee's out - we return to the chalet to put the kettle on. Lunch is a small home made snack and as for tea we cook to save the pennies or have been known to have a cafe meal on the sea front.
If you are drinkers I would take a case of beer with you and put a few cans in your bag every night. Us well with the kids, we buy thoose 99p bottles of pop in the supermarket and take some none spill cups.(the one's with lids).
    Have a great time.
If winter comes, can spring be far behind?
    Spring begins on 21st March.

The last time we went to Butlins Skegness we stayed SC, we normally do HB.
For SC a day for 2A and 2C we were spending like £80-100. Breakfast inside from food we bought from local onsite shop. Dinner in either Papa Johns, Burger King or Front Room = £30 per day. Drinks in the clubhouse and throughout the day £30-£40. Arcade £20. Shops and Bowling, Golf or Cinema £20. And about an extra £15-£20 for snacks at lunch and stuff. I can say that we wont do SC again unless HB is too much money. HB is great at Butlins and it suits fussy eaters and they have a choice of like Ten different things to eat. They have soup, fish, kids section, jacket spudsa and salad bar every day with a tridionl and a world food section. If we go HB we spend like £40-£50 a day but on things we would have avoided on SC to save money. HBis much better unless you dont mind cooking three meals a day whilst on holiday. Sometimes I find HB even works out cheaper or around £5 extra a day each.
  • my kids loved it when we went half board. fussy eaters and one veggie. They were spoiled for choice. We found we didn't need lunch either. I hated it though. All that going backwards and forwards and several hundred other people doing it at the same time. It's enough to give you indegestion. Also the half board restraunts and the eat out places are incredibly noisy. So for myself I would ratehr go sc.

We have been many times to Skeggy Butlins, you will have a great time.Cheap it is not, like it says further up the board think London prices for drinks. There are plenty of bars for drinks and plenty of choices for eating.Self catering is better and the kitchen facilities in the chalets are adequate ,you can hire microwaves from the hire shop if you want to take ready meals. If you walk to the BEACH gate and turn right a nice walk brings you to a couple of pubs that do reasonable priced food and drink. If you turn left a longer walk but worthwhile takes you up Roman Bank to the Eastgate market which has food ,drink ,funfair and very cheap market stalls.Alternatively you can leave the site with your car or on bus and Skegness is very nice.On site when the guests who are on half board go for their meals the swimming pool is a quite a bit quieter however the down side is that the later you eat and go out for your evening the show bars are packed, people queue from 1800 for the doors to open at 1900 for good seats.
I am sure you will enjoy yourself.

In the past when we have been sc at Skegness it has been possible to pay a supplement to upgrade to halfboard. You could try this for a day and if you didn't like it don't do it for the rest of the week. We have found the hb buffets very good.
If you don't want to do this the Yatch Club which is used for Gold accommodation guests do meals at a reasonable price outside of the normal evening meal times, which we found excellent.
There are plenty of cheap places in Skegness itself and also in Ingoldmells. Please take cash though. We have found in the past that some places don't take credit cards.
Hope you have a good time, we always have.
