If everything is switched to your new bank account, treat it as a closed bank account, if they keep adding charges , claim them back or at least send them the letter ,if it works let me know

Hi. Sounds like you are getting yourself sorted. At least with your daughter and her faince moving in it will help with the bills though you will lose your single person Council Tax discount. Don't forget income from lodgers is tax free up to a certain point so you don't need to tell the Inland Revenue. Also I would use their moving in to have a clear out and carboot/Amazon/Green Metropolis/ebay andthing that you don't want. Try to get everyone doing daily clicks. Pigsback used to be OK but is still worth logging on daily for the competitions.
The other good thing is you will all be able to batch cook thus saving on fuel bills.
Hope it works out OK for you all.
Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)
  • Thanks Numpty and Tealady,
Yes, Im sure the bills will be a bit more manageable with a bit extra income. Its nice to know I'll be helping my daughter out too. She does work hard but I think she's finding it difficult since her employer has been cutting her hours recently as the job is quiet. Thats the main reason Im doing this so theres a feel good factor about it all. Just have to get used to my space being invaded. Ha!
I dont mind paying the extra council tax because what we were paying between the two properties, it will still be cheaper.

As for the late fees and payments etc, I will have to research that to see if theres any way I can recoup that. I dont mind paying my debt back, but in times of hardship a little sympathy from the banks wouldn't go amiss!

I'll let you know how things progress.

    Thanks again
  • I am very pleased with myself. Great start to the week. I have done TWO No Spending Days in a row. Not spent a penny!!
