I have a hideaway & space is very limited, so a trackball works better than a mouse for me, but at £3.45 its worth it to test if the problem is the trackball or the PC.
    Thank you

I've been with AOL for years now.

I am happy with them & millions use them.

So there must be a way I can have AOL & a PC that works.

Thank you for your useful advice.

I never suggested leaving AOL. :) Just using any ISP's software is always a mistake. AOL's software is particularly known for compatibility issues and general headaches. If you re read my post it talked about not having anything by AOL installed, that means the software AOL supplies and not whether you continue to be their customer and connect with them or not.

Sorry, I was getting really stressed with it freezing all the time:o

basically what he/she means is that you can use AOL as you internet provider (ISP) without installing their software, but you need to be able to configure an internet connection manually in order to do this. Most ISPs will provide the information required if you ask.

If you're using a router then you don't even need to have any reference to AOL at all on your computer. Even if you connect your computer directly through a broadband modem you can set up the connection in Windows and still don't need any AOL software. I'm not saying this will necessarily solve anything but just keep in mind that because you're with a certain ISP that doesn't mean you need to use their software or put their CD anywhere near your computer (and preferably you shouldn't seeing as for something unnecessary they can be the source of some problems).

I've been with AOL for years now, this is a recent problem.

If I remove their software (which I don't know how to do anyway) & I needed their tech support they might not give it to me.

This is all a bit above my capabilities, but its not likely to be AOL actually causing this problem as its a new problem & for now I just want to solve this problem.

For some reason since I have kept the task master open it hasn't happened, yet when it was closed it was happening all morning.
