We received a letter from BT (our ISP) informing us that our usage for Sept 05 was 144GB and usage for oct 05 was 123GB. They say that due to the new changes in their terms and conditions, that usage over 40GB will be charges at £1.00 per GB.
They will not chase us for the cost if we either pay it or migrate...
Can anyone guide us in the right direction for a new ISP that will allow this sort of usage? We are also happy to include the telephone if it is more beneficial. Its a bit of a minefield out there with all the suppliers.

Check out F9 here….

You probably won’t have heard of them. F9 are part of the Plus Net Group….a very strong group of ISPs highly rated by those “in the know.” F9 were recommended to me by others more IT literate than me and I’ve never looked back.
F9 are available to talk to you 24/7 365 days of the year and they’re very helpful. They’re based in Sheffield (not in a call centre at Delhi, Bombay, Baffin Island or anywhere else.) You can even watch them at work….they have a webcam in their offices!!
Check this out….

I would be wary of the F9 deal if you plan to download similar amounts as you already do. They are part of the Plusnet group which has strict (and very annoying) limits on how much you download (and what services you use). Plusnet will limit any of their customers that download more than 100GB a month. The limit for P2P and newsgroups is only 15GB. Not only this, but the network will put speed limits on these kind of downloads (bad enough to make it slower than dial up). Here is what the terms say about these services.
6.1.2 These guidelines are to give you a clear expectation as to what constitutes fair and reasonable account usage. You are bound by these guidelines we impose on you, as a user of the Service, in order that we can operate a reliable service for our customers.
6.2.1 Broadband Surf products prohibit the use of file sharing (peer-2-peer) applications or access to any USENET service other than the text feed offered by us. We will actively block such applications and any new applications or services of similar purpose.
Have a look at the Plusnet forum on ADSLGuide to get an idea of how these rules are affecting people.
If you are after truly unlimited internet use. With no speed restrictions and no download limits. You have to pay more for the service. There are VERY FEW companies that truly offer this service anymore without restrictions. Zen Internet is one of these companies. They charge a lot more for their service, but in return you get truly unlimited downloads no matter what type of service you use to download from. They don't send out warnings for your level of use. They also have the best scores on the comparison page at ADSLGuide out of all the ISPs listed (I've never seen them beaten in any category by any company). They cost more, but in return you get service that can't be beat/matched by any other ISP in the UK.How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Im with plusnet and can confirm that recent changes to the way plusnet rate their queues is resulting in severe throttling in speed especially on p2p. I used to recommend plusnet but not now.0

zazizam offer unlimited 2mb for £29.99 (£31.99 without phone), or unlimited 1mb for £19.99/£21.99 - and i have hitting it flat out, and have recieved nothing bad... hope that helps, plus its 3 months contract, which isn't too bad - all you need to do is migrate in
they do not do any throttling0
