Just back from Prague 28th Nov. Do not underestimate the cold!!!!
Verry few bargains- a part from food, wooden toys, beer, that nice Becherovka liqueur. They push Garnet/ Amber & glass & there are some nice things to be had. The western shops are just the same as here, tho' I picked up some nice boots in the BATA shop on Wenceslas Sq.The food is pretty poor to be absolutely frank. I know that others will disagree but I exaggerate only slightly when I say that the only veg I saw was pickled. Try the Rekjavik in the townhall square for a change from the meat meat & meat menus. It pains me to say this but but you might be happier with the many Chinese or Italian places than the Czech. Tho' they are astoundingly cheap - a lunch that would have stopped a horse ( butter beans & frankfurters in a sweet sauce + chicken scrambled eggs & peas)+ rice + beer +wine was only £5. The trams are brill & so is the metro, get a 3 day pass, its a really good deal. The Cedaz is also a super thing - its like a shared minibus that you book @ the airport it took us directly to our hotel & picked us & returned us to the airport @ 15- 20 minute journey - 4 up to 4 people it will cost only £20 for every body. It was extremely professional & the return chap was 15 minutes early.
Go to the castle @ 13:00 & see the changing of the guard for free - its a hoot.
We loved it, its beautiful, its classy, the people are very patient & it snowed as we crossed the Charles bridge, We'll be back
