Minimal payments from self employment. It's a family business the money stays in the business.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p
  • Hi,
I've just gone over to Sp social tarriff, due to having breast cancer (it was recommended by my nurse)

My question is; once i'm better- and, thankfully, i will be soon :D do i have to inform them and then move to another tarrif?

If you were accepted on a Social Tariff because of Special Needs some of the Companies will take you off but not all of them.

What energy company are you with?

    Best Wishes to you

  • Paulessex - I looked at Scottish Power / Fresh Start - All utils including BG will be on the same national agreement . The SP site says !

Features offered as part of tariff:

    - The tariff is equal to the cheapest Scottish Power tariff at any time regardless of payment method / Benefits check to ensure consumers are claiming all the benefits they are eligible for / Energy Efficiency Advice. The tariff will be available to anyone who is over the age of 60 and in receipt of one of the following social welfare benefits:

    - Attendance allowance / Council tax benefit (not including single occupancy discount) / Disability living allowance / Disabled persons tax allowance / Child tax credit (where income is less than than £15,460) / Housing benefit
    - - Income-based JSA / State pension credit / Working tax credit (where household income is less than £15,592) / War disablement pension (which either includes a mobility supplement or constant attendance allowance)
    - - Industrial injuries disablement benefit (must also have a constant attendance allowance)

NOTE, it says '' regardless of payment method '', so a key meter would still qualify, however you must be over the age of 60.

  • I've just moved to n powers' spreading warmth tariff. I was with EON price protection, but unfortunatly they couldn't compete with spreading warmth.

Whe I have spoken to EON customer service, no-one mentioned any future social tariffs. Only their Staywarm option.

I'd certainly be interested in what EON have to offer. However, if I have no issues with n power, I'll probably stick with them until another company can compete.

I am disabled on DLA and child-related benefits. I use a wheelchair which needs charging plus I have a through-floor lift and a hoist which both suck electricity like anything. Up to 2009 when I had an op I was very unwell and very cold literally needing heating and electric fire on 24/7 even though I had 2 winter jumpers and a thick coat on - even in bed! Those days are gone now though I still feel cold I am not as bad and a little portable heater comes in handy when I am chilly BUT I have earned a bill with 1,500 including arrears. I cannot afford the £180 per month that E.ON want and they won't accept my £100 per month which is all I can afford (I am a single parent too). I am desperate to move suppliers but no-one will accept me nor will E.ON put me on a lower tarrif!
Does ANYONE know of any grants or other help I can get so that I can get this paid off and start again?

  • To clarify I haven't changed from using the hoist etc just wear lighter clothes now (the leg was worth it, the pain was not! Avoid Ward M at Pinderfields Hospital if you are disabled - NO pain relief NO physio NO OT and had to buy OWN food!)
