What does HTH mean? (I'm trying to build up my fund of knowledge re these abbreviations! So far I've learnt LOL, lmao, pmsl -- and another which I've already forgotten... Educational or what?!)
Some time ago I remember someone posting a link to all these abbreviation thingys.
It might have been Milarky. Perhaps if he reads this he could do the honours again? :)0 -

I started doing doing super balance transfers about a year ago, amassing about £18.000.
Since then, I have been transferring balances where necessary to new credit cards. A couple of existing cards are up for renewal, so the other day I applied for the 12 month Lloyds TSB card. I got a letter today turning me down, with a long explanation which was no explanation really.
Before I apply for other cards, does this decision mean I am likely to be turned down for other cards, and will it affect other financial products I buy (eg mortgage)? Is there anything I can do to find out why I was turned down?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
(I currently hold six cards, three with 0% balance transfers, two for general use, and one that I am about to cancel).0 -
Mr-B - there is no hard and fast rule. Any rules you see here are approximations based on experience. Before I apply for other cards, does this decision mean I am likely to be turned down for other cards, and will it affect other financial products I buy (eg mortgage)? Is there anything I can do to find out why I was turned down?
Lots of available credit (whether used or not) and lots of recent searches are the two which cause most problems for stoozers.0 -

Had a similar experience, Lloyds TSB Createcard turned me down with some longwinded letter telling me basically nothing. I did complain, got my Experian report etc. nothing wrong etc. etc. A couple of months later, I had a courtesy call from my local branch - the upshot was they told me I was a wonderful customer and gave me £15K Lloyds Platinum card! Same bank!
Does make you wonder if the left hand knows what the right hand is doing!0 -
Just a related query/suggestion
Does anyone think November/December is a particularly good [or bad] time to sneak in an 'extra' application or two on the back of the increased throughput of applications that can be expected during this time of the year? In other words do they [the CC companies] get less or more fussy in busy periods do we think?.....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0
