Did the guy at Shell swipe MY Shell Drivers Club card?

The obvious thing to do first would be for the OP to ask shell for details of when he received points. If he didn't receive points on that occasion, then he might feel the need to complain.
I can't see that if someone is going to openly flaunt spare cards in front of customers, they are likely to be taking THAT customers points.
It's more likely he is swiping (literally) the points of people who don't want them.I wouldn't have a problem with that as a customer.
This is a strange post. Why would the OP care if it was legal, surely he would only care that his points were being taken,or not as the case may be?0 -

I think it's like I said, a powertrip/do-gooder thing.
Phils come back and disagreed. My take on it is is this any different from knowing you've been undercharged somewhere and not speaking up (unless you know it's so blatent you feel guilty)? I don't think it is, and how many people have done something like that?
I went to B & Q today and bought two bolts, they were priced £1.28, not a miss print as all the others of similar sizes had similar prices. At the till the woman rang them in at 78p (they had no price on some code thing). Do you think I said anything!
The amount of times I've banged on you'll get undercharged as well as overcharged on here. Is it just me it happens to? Maybe it's just luck.0 -
you can check your account online to see if you are getting your shell points as they will log on to your account.
At one of my local shell garages, as I go in regular, the staff have said if I go up to them first and hand in my card, they will put any unclaimed points on it from other customers before I fill up.
Thats OK - by me, and if I forgot my card I wouldnt have any problem with someone else taking my points that are unclaimed.Don't try to teach a pig to sing - it wastes your time and annoys the pig0 -
An ex-boyfriend of mine worked at Shell (approx 6yrs ago) and they had a loyalty card scheme then where you got points which you could convert to vouchers for shops like Debenhams or redeem in UCI cinemas. Him and his mate who worked there (both were about 19 at the time) used to add points to their own cards if a customer didn't have one. Shell caught onto it after a few months (probably cos none of them drove so never bought petrol, neither were that bright!) and both were called to a diciplinary hearing. My ex got a slap on the wrist and his, and family memebers, cards withdrawn and cancelled, and ended up working the horrible shifts. His mate got sacked cos he was actually adding fake points to his card.

That would result in a sacking at Tesco, just as it should do at Shell.
The reason he has a large pile of cards is to try and stop him getting caught.
It is fraud, plain and simple.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
I used to work at co-op where there were dividend cards. A card could only be used five times a day, precisely to stop this kind of thing.Competition wins: Where's Wally Goody Bag, Club badge branded football, Nivea for Men Goody Bag0

It’s funny but the biggest lying fraudsters are the people in charge of companies like Shell, or politicians or in important positions in the police or civil service. When they do something wrong and get caught out they usually get a golden handshake and the opportunity to ‘resign’ for a few months. When one of ‘the little people’ is seen doing something even a little bit questionable they are sacked! For goodness sake lets get this in proportion – the person in that service station could be supporting a family on what is likely to be low wages, don’t be so petty to report them and make them lose their job.
I don’t work in retail before anyone thinks I’ve got my hand in the till!

He certainly didn'y swipe my card, and it wasn't the first time. He swiped his own card behind the counter, then my credit card went into the chip and pin reader and then, to fob me off, he put the shell club card into the chip and pin reader. This was done to me previously and although it looked strange It didn't click that you cant scan a magnetic strip in a chip and pin reader. Unlike the practice described previously on this thread, this is clearly theft. My points went on his card (and I have the receipt to prove it). I have reported it to Shell. We shall see.0
