fairy cake topping for lunchbox

Well kids are loving the homemade fairy cakes for their lunch boxes but the DS is now full time and has complained he wants topping on his.
Now i have never put toppings on as i thought they would all get stuck to the bag, box, cling film, grease proof that i was wrapping round them.
I make them vanilla, chocolate, choc orange or strawberry ones does anyone have any suitable toppings that won't just come off in the wrappings or is it a lost cause?
TIA Angel

what about a drizzle topping on the the choc-orange one. When they are warm mix some orange juice with some granulated sugar and drizzle on top - it goes a bit crusty when dry and shouldn't cause the sticky problems icing would?
I can't promise that all my replies will illicit this responser.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!

I cut the cakes in half and sandwich the icing in the middle to stop it getting stuck to anything xIf marriage means you fell in love, does divorce mean you climbed back out?:rotfl:0

You could make icing sugar and water into a thick 'dough' and then cut out shapes to put on top of the cake, it looks pretty although it won't moisten the cake at all.

DD takes a cake in a small Lock and Lock (D in this pic, though she also has a small round one which is a better size

i do have 2 of those but 3 children but i normally fill them with fruit of some sort, though i am finding it hard to make space in the lunch boxs with so many tubs - now wonder if the 2 larger tubs i have would fit sandwiches and a cake in ? will have a looksee might help solve the problem for 2 of them at leastStill TryingGrocery challenge July 2016

How about pressing 2 or 3 of the soft dolly mixture sweets in the top.... they won't be messy and the kids will think WHOOPPPEEEEEEEEE!!!
or you could use those premade decorations that you can buy to decorate iced cakes... you can get jellies, flowers etc... just press them into the sponge once they are cooked...#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j
