What's more the annual Notice of Interest Rates letter refers to winning Moneyfacts Best Notice and No Notice Account Awards, and meeting their commitment to savers under the Banking Code, doesn't draw your eye to the new issue.

So, if you opened an account with Anglo Irish before August, check what issue it is - you may not be getting the higher rate they currently publicise!

I got sent a leaflet recently and noticed this. The "old" Easy Access (when they bother to answer the phone) is now paying 5.7% gross (down from 6.3% a year ago). The "new" Easy Access Account Issue 2 is paying 6.4% gross. I asked if I could transfer to the new account and they said yes and have sent me a form to do this.

People have said on here that HBOS was a crap bank - I wouldn't know about that - but at least they answered the phone quickly and their automated phone service was brilliant so you rarely had to speak to anyone anyway. Anglo Irish have never answered a telephone in under 20 minutes in the 6 months I've used tham and Idon't think that's very good customer service. Just my view based on personal experience.
