Can someone please help me, I think I am being a bit dumb (no change there!)

Went to Boots tonight and got 2 No7 mirrors and a pedicure set. If the glitch had worked, what should I have paid? I have a feeling it didn't work!
    i'm confused now.. :confused::confused: :rotfl:

According to my understanding after reading the receipt it works like this: it calculates 342 with the two highest priced items' original prices first, then apply half price - but mistakenly it deducts half (of original prices again) from all 3 items which including the free one

    So for example,
    Item 1 now £20 (original £40)
    Iem 2 now £20 (original £40)
    Item 3 now £10 (original £20)

    Then you'll pay: £40 + £40 (342) - £20 (0.5 * £40 item 1) - £20 (0.5 * £40 item 2) -£10 (0.5 * £20 item 3) = £ 30

While if you buy 3 items at £20 each (original £40) then you'll need to pay
    £40 + £40 (342) - £20 (0.5 * £40 item 1) - £20 (0.5 * £40 item 2) -£20 (0.5 * £40 item 3) = £20

    HTH

I'm pretty sure this is how the program's written but somebody correct me if wrong
  • This is the calculation I get going by what is my receipt for the mirrors ~ how much was actually paid for this combo?
I didnt actually do this shop was calculating for someone else but from my calculations approx £32.48 (going on prices of 19.99, 19.99 & 7.50)
Will not spend more money:naughty:, but will spend more time looking for that great bargain!
  • Basically treat the cheapest item price as the "extra" ammount deducted from the total of the other 2 items.

    Hiya,

I paid what Glidergirl got it to £32.48. Think I might take it back for a refund and just get the mirrors (what I originally wanted) What would happen with the refund as I used 2 electrical vouchers?

when I took the mascara back and had used the £5 voucher they just refunded the full ammount so treated the voucher as cash...not sure if they would do the same though.

  • Aww bless, i have a spare you could have, postage would be hefty though! :o

Thanks for the offer SK. Dont trust posting it......bad experience in the past.

posted a mirror once with dhl. it broke... and they somehow know i posted a mirror:confused::confused: someone called me up to explain the legal stuff, health & safety of workers, right to take action, breach of terms, etc....

also posted once with RM, and the mirror (a small replacement glass for picture frame, actually) arrived with a chip. ....
