That's the page that you will get untill you type (or copy) the address http://speedtester.bt.com/ This is the only webpage that will open on this network. Try again and this time, when you get the "Page cannot be displayed" message. Ignore it and type in the speedtester address. Your homepage will be on the 'normal' web. This connection doesn't access this part of the internet, so none of your normal web pages will load, only the speedtest page.

If it's a Netgear DG834 (or DG834G), then once you reconnect to the BT network. Look in 'Router Status' then at the bottom click 'connection status'. This will show you for sure if you're connected to the BT network. If you are, then the speedtest page will work for you in your browser.

Apologies for posting on the wrong board initially.

Have tried the link at http://www.adslguide.org.uk/ and am getting a downstream of 255kpbs and an upstream of 240kpbs. Not great when my mate on the other side of town gets 1mbps consistently and he has a similar pc and is also uses the same Tiscali service as me. Like Spandit, the speed issues don't seem to correspond to what one would think is a "busy" time at all.

After checking the connection status, I get the following:

Connection Time - 00:00:00
Connecting to Server - Failed
Negotiating - LCP down
Authentication - CHAP authentication failed
Getting IP Address - ---
Getting Network Mask - ---

I'm not that bothered about accessing the webpage, but I would like to know if I am considered to be a heavy user.
