Have tried getting rid of these through hijack this but when I re run it they are still there

Also I have downloaded both the service pack and AVG (from Filehippo) and have added them both to the desktop but when I start to run them, they get a short way through and both fail with a 'File is Corrupt' message. However, I can run both files successfully on my pc.

I have also reran MCPR.exe

Run regedit ( Start , then "run" then type Regedit and click "ok" ) and navigate to the below registry key.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows

Right click on this registry key and select Permissions

Make sure Full Control and Read are set to Allow for your user account

Have done that. I can get AVG installation to run now (but that fails because the version of windows is unsupported) but I still get the file is corrupt message when I try and install service pack 3. The version of windows is 5.1 service pack 1 - does this mean I have to do service pack 2 first

Thanks - I think I am nearly there now. Got SP2 to load then AVG went through without a problem. Still wouldn't load SP3 so I have found an SP2 fix which I have loaded and now it is running SP3 update.

So fingers crossed once that has finished it should all be ok.
