No. I'd be offended too, and like I say I'd put in a claim straight away, including a token sum for distress. Bringing up the religious discrimination angle could help, as it's obvious he only wants "virtuous" Christian tenants.0 -

Crikey what sort of token sum do you think appropriate?

I'd suggest about £50. Asking probing questions of such a personal nature to not only your boyfriend, but also to your boss and parents would certainly distress me, and cause considerable embarrassment.
Like I say, just a token sum.0 -

nah dont bother chatting to the monkey its the organ grinder you want.
Take the preliminary Letter before action ( plenty of templates on consumer action group BTW) and hand deliver it, preferably with your dad as witness. If you have video on your mobile you might want to take a quick video of it being posted through the door.
that will give you 2 weeks. If when he comes back he hasnt paid up, you need to send the Letter before action, telling him if he doesnt pay up yoll take him to small claims to get it back .Dont let this drift !
Then once thats expired- you need to have the cash in your hand ( dont accept cheques- ask for bank transfer/ postal order/ or cash) on the date then file small claims immiediately. Do not delay.
then if he drags it out youll get 7% court interest in any case.
personally I think he will cough up within that time, this guy is clearly an idiot, not a professional scammer after all he certainly wouldnt let you know where he lived if seriously anticipated getting away with this.
You have to feel for his staff, imagine working for someone like this :beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

A private landlord must not discriminate against you because of your race, sex, disability, sexuality or religion. This means that they are probably breaking the law if they:
- refuse to let a property to you because of your race, sex, disability, sexuality or religion
- rent a property to you on worse terms than other tenants
- treat you differently from other tenants in the way you are allowed to use facilities such as a laundry or a garden
- evict or harass you because of your race, sex, disability, sexuality or religion
- charge you higher rent than other tenants
- refuse to carry out repairs to your home, simply because of your race, sex, disability, sexuality or religion
- refuse to make reasonable changes to a property or a term in the tenancy agreement which would allow a disabled person to live there.
