I bought some last week. got them home, they dont work, they wont turn on at all!
took them back today, they wouldnt give me a refund at all, said I could only have a replacement, which I didnt want.
apparently no-one working there was authorised to return my money, funny that, they can take the money easily enough!
I demanded to speak to somebody who could authorise a refund! The girl rang her manager on the phone and guess what SHE WAS IN LONDON! what a shock! the manager was shouting abuse at me down the phone saying I would never get my money back! I never raised my voice the whole time, but the assistant threatened me with security! I told them if they didnt get security I would!
a very nice security guard arrived and listened to the story, then he called for the shopping centre`s manager!
To cut a long story short, I will be going there tuesday to get a refund. I have my receipt and print off from trading standereds saying if goods are faulty I should get a refund!
The way I was dealt with, you would of assumed I had commited murder! There are very very unproffesional in my opinion and never will I buy off these "stalls inside shopping centres again!":money:0 -
I bought herStyler straightening irons whilst on a day out in Newcastle. I already have GHDs but was told if i purchased them that day (in Fenwicks) that i would be able to have my hair done as many times as i wanted in 1 year and they had salons all over the country and abroad. I explained that i lived near York so the manager said there was 2 salons in York where i could have my hair done. That was in November. I phoned Fenwicks in York in December to be told that they werent selling them anymore. I contacted herStyler in january 2010 and March 2010 as i was still unable to find anywhere that had the francise. They sent me an email back asking for more info and what cities were close to where i live. I did this and it is now mid June and i still havent had a reply. I have also returned from a holiday in Vancouver and wasnt able to find anywhere that sold them either. I only purchased them as i thought it would be good to have my hair straightened professionally every month for a year.
My advise is DO NOT BUY. I am surprised Fenwicks in Newcastle allowing HerStyler products to be sold in their store.0 -
thanks for the update, definately will stay away from them now.Loving the sunny days!0

OUrs from AMazon are perfectly fine, but don't buy other than from reputable sellers. As far as I can make out, never buy ANYTHING from barrows in shopping centres, any claims they make are likely to be untrue (hair styling free etc) as they are not likely to be there for long. I don't think its the brand thats a problem, its the method of selling them.
For technique, there are videos on youtube which helped us a lot.0 -
I went to Westfield and was almost dragged over by a girl selling these. I did tell her I had no money: perfect line "I forgot my wallet today".
Very good English, (Russian??) she knew what she was doing and moved at great speed to curl half my head. After which she showed me in a mirror what it looked like.
She then told me the price. £150. I could have laughed in her face! Aside from the fact I got the Babyliss with some vouchers from toluna for £20 (technically costing me £0) I said no, I had no money I could not buy them. She did seem to try everything; I could have my hair done for 3 years following, I had the guarentee for 5 years I could have different colours. She reduced the price to £99 and said she'd throw in another styler for straight hair, said I could have a heat protectant spray.... I still said no. I said no as I had said it in the first place and do not like people trying to undermind me.
You could have cut the atmosphere she created with a knife. She mutters "so I suppose you want me to do the rest of your hair" to which I said yes and waited for her to finish and to her credit she did do this.
I may have been swayed- had I had a spare £150 rolling round the bottom of my purse...but the hard sell- its just so wrong it puts me off there and then, nothing to do with the product, the way its done shows poor customer relations and wanting a quick sale so badly as to reduce the product to buy-one-get-one free as well as reducing the price just put the value right down to nothing.
I walked away and cannot help but feel for unsuspecting people I see who get lured in to have their hair done. Lion to slaugher draw!0 -
Herstyler tongs.
My daughter has seen these tongs advertised on a barrow stall in the MetroCentre but they are £80/£85 for the small baby tongs, £100 for the medium sized tongs and £150 for the 3 in 1 tongs (small medium and large interchangeable). Included in this price they are offering free hair styling for a year for the family (myself plus three daughters). I do however feel that this price is still rather high, even though they are saying that the prices are special offers at the moment (approx half price).
Has anyone else purchased these tongs and are they as good they make them out to be?
Also advertised on ebay - 3in 1 tongs are £59.99 plus postage and baby tongs approx £29.99 plus postage. Anyone know of these people selling on ebay? I mentioned these prices to the barrow stall and they said they could be second hand, but is that just because they want me to buy from them!!
They demonstrate the small and medium tongs but not the 3 in 1 which I am more tempted to buy, but even after asking they won't demonstrate these.
Can anyone convince me to or not to buy these!!
Thanks.
hi i bought the straighters and the curling tones and im really pleased with them they are well worth the money. i had fhi straighters and these are 10 times better than them0 -
I found the pink 13mm baby curls for £29.95 from hd10dotcodotuk
anyone used this store? Worth buying from? The next nearest price I could find was £48.08 (in purple) from amazon (£51 for pink)0 -
Never had the girls hair done at the barrows but considering buying some but not from there. What is the difference between them 19mm 23mm etc and which would be better to buy. I know it will have to do with size of curl but which would be better. Eldest daughter has long thick hair as had daughter no3 but no 2 who also has long hair has very fine hair. ThanksI have never met a calorie yet I didn't like!!0
