Hallo... First post on here! I'm soon to be a student and well, the license fee is too much to spend on watching only a few shows I like, but, if I get livestation or zattoo, am I still liable to pay the license fee? I know you can watch programs on iPlayer and things that aren't live, without having to pay it, I just don't have a clue where these programs fall under the license fee...0

welcome to mse
from the livestation userguide:
Livestation delivers live television and radio broadcast programme services. Reception of these services may require a television or radio licence in some countries. You should ensure that your use of Livestation is covered by such a licence where required.
you don't need a tv licence to watch programms on bbc iplayer, so i shouldn't think you need one for this either, but i'm not certain to be honest.0 -
Hi, does anyone know if any of these sites show footy?
I want to get rid of sky sports, lol, but need to find somewhere else to watch the games. Setanta not an option, had this last season, and was so happy I was not paying full price, as it was not worth it. lol.0 -
Thanks i've downloaded it and its great. But i'm concerned about internet charges. Will i have to pay more? I see in the FAQs it says
- How much bandwidth does Livestation consume?
Depending on the data rate of each individual channel, Livestation may consume up to 800kbps downstream while it is viewed and 256kbps upstream capacity. At other times, when the player is idle, it may use a small amount of capacity to keep in contact with the Livestation network. This is limited to 64kbps.
from the userguide:
Using Livestation may transfer more than 200MB per hour while viewing video. This could quickly exceed the limits on usage set by some broadband service providers. You should ensure that your network provider or administrator is able to support this level of sustained usage. This applies to all types of video streaming and not only to Livestation.0 - How much bandwidth does Livestation consume?

You only need a license if you are watching live broadcasts. This is why you do not need one to watch iplayer and similar because the programs have been recorded.
As long as live station does not show what is currently played on tv, you should be fine.0 -
