    Newham MOT’s

    020 8472 0343 or 0208 430 3963.

    Appointments Only.
    3-Wheeler, cars, mini-buses, van – 3.5 Ton.

    Free retest.
Central Depot, Folkestone Road, East Ham, London E6 6BX
I've used Newham Council MOT test centre several times. Very good!
The public entrance is actually at Jenkins lane, near to the Bectkton roundabaout where the North Circular (A406) meets the A13.
Press buzzer, expalin you're there for MOT test and drive through, you will see MOT parking on right hand side as you drive further in.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE BY NO MEANS USE THIS CENTRE. I WENT THERE NOV '09 AND THE TESTER MADE ME SCRUB ONE OF MY HEADLIGHTS CLEAN ALL BCOS SOME KIDS ROUND MY WAY HAD POURED A SEMI-OPAQUE LIQUID ONTO THAT LIGHT BUT THAT HEADLIGHT LOOKED THE SAME AS THE OTHER ONE?? HE WAS TOO STRINGENT IN THAT TEST - I CAME AWAY WITH PALMS RED SORE AFTER ALL THAT SCRUBBING

old thread but made me smile
reason it will have needed cleaning although it looked ok to you would be because the cutoff on the headlight would have been opaque and the motman would have been failling in his duty if he let it pass and could lose his job
  • Hello, thank you for reading and I hope you can help.

I wanted to find out the what is reasonable charge for an annual service?
I have a VW golf 1.6 engine petrol 10 years old.

I have it serviced regularly since I bought it 3 years ago but feel that my usual garage has been overcharging.

I've rung around locally and been quoted between £200-270 + vat.

    many thanks
  • Can anyone recommend a good place in west London to get an MOT for my Ford Transit camper, a council test centre would be best but i cant seem to find one nearby and my van has an expired mot so i cant drive too far, i think it comes in the heavy vehicle class as its an extra high top and a long wheel base. any help would be much appreciated. im from new zealand and this is the first vehicle ive owned over here.
  • Just used them, Colin was great. Will be going back next year.

    Lovely bunch!

I use this one in SE London for the past 3-4 years with various cars and all passed 1st time. MOT only centre for £45, online booking system too thetestcentre.co.uk

Just used The Test Centre in Deptford as a result of this post. I made the booking online and received an sms reminder the evening before, They were efficient and professional, and passed my car first time with no probmems.

Thanks for sharing your recommendation! :j
  • I've found one in Redbridge

    Ley Street, Ilford.

contact 020 8554 5000, or book online (Google Redbridge Transport Service)
  • Hi

You need to add Redbridge to the map. I had my car MOT'd there last week. They do repair and will even do services, but I trust them so much more than regular garages. Here are the details.

The site wont let me past the link. Search 'Redbridge Ley Street Depot MOT.
  • Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but wanted to also give my recommendation for The Test Centre - took my car there on Thursday evening and it sailed through. Very quick and efficient, very pleased with them.
