The ultimate incentive to get debt free, can I do it by New Years?

Yes but baking on the evening before you get married? Stressfull! Saw a lovely Good Food recipie for a 3 layered cake, a choccie layer, a lemon layer and a traditional crappy fruit cake layer about 3 years ago, I'd be happy with that, can cut it at least. And lots of choice of cake. Would have to find a way to dress it up pretty though!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

I wish you the best of luck with this. I hope that by New Year I too will be well on my way to becoming debt free. So I shall watch your progress with interest and with enthusiasm that you can do it!
GOOD LUCK! QBx
Hi Queen Bess great to meet you! Was actually aiming for last new year, but missed a bit! 15k in 5 months was probably a bit of a push to be fair! Should probably rename the thread....Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

 Mmmm... Cake...
I'd have thought you'd like planning it too Dinah. And making the invites, name plates, order-of-service whatever-it-is. I know the thought of the cost is terrifying. My friend is a fashion designer, friend's husband is a photographer and I'm starting to think it might be a good idea to make friends with a florist, baker, icer, chef and hotelier in preparation... just in case he asks...Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -

I guess I don't really have one since we changed the priorities and are saving concurrently with the debt clearing. Kind of depends if I balance transfer CC2 I think. My last payment to my Grandad is 25th September, would definitely like to be clear by then, as I won't be DF till this date anyway.
Breaking it down into little pieces makes the whole wedding thing seem a lot less scary. Guess it's all the people looking at me, thinking I don't deserve it and he could do better, especially his mum, that is the one hudle I've never been able to cross. You're right, I would like the planning and the finding the best deals!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Sod his mother! (Sorry NIM!) You do deserve it. You're a lovely, clever, driven girl. If you weren't you wouldn't have all of us following your every step! You've done so well turning your life around and it is your turn to live happily ever after!
God, that was a bit lovey dovey...Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
To clear what I have currently remaining by September 25th is £420 a month, which is no hassle at all as I pay £365 just in basic payments that I have set.
If I do balance transfer CC2 so we can fill the ISAs then it equals £849 a month, which is still not uncomfortable, £484 above the basic payments, I almost always have £250 min left per month, so only £234 to make a month from savings, mystery shopping and sales, well below the £10 a day challenge. That actually goes some way to convincing me the best thing to do is apply for a new 0% card.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

She's his mother, she's very important to him, I just don't know how I've got this reputation of being a baby making witch of the west! Besides, he might be talking about wanting this when I'm ready, but can't count chickens, or eggs, or baskets or whatever the saying is!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Hmm, could you aim to do this in time for your LBM anniversary, perhaps having enough in the bank ready to pay your grandad if he really won't let you settle a month early? Then you'll have til April to save to fill the ISAs again!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
