    Hello loopy_lass

I don't understand what you're saying but hopefully someone in the 'Motoring & Public Transport' board will.;)

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. 1.2 engine Corsas are cam chain engines. 1.4 engine and above Corsas and Astras are cambelt engines which require a new cambelt every 40k so make sure this has been done or negotiate a discount if there is no proof. If the cambelt proof shows that the water pump has been replaced at the same time then this shows that the owner and servicing garage has been fastidious and careful in their approach to maintaining the car.

Most diesels in the Corsa and Astra range are also chain driven.

These vauxhall corsa are 2 models old, there are ok but not as good as the fiesta mk6 02/03 models. I think the current model astra starts from 04 which has a nice design, the year you mentioned on the astra are still a good car but it does look dated.

I would advise you to look into a mk6 fiesta 02/03 if you dont need an astra size car. For 3k you can pick up a 03 plate fiesta with air con quite easily. The fiesta has a very good chassis which makes the drive enjoyable and assure.

It's a side swipe remark about vauxhall, smashes into wall. Untrue of course.

The astra of old and new are good cars, but the fiesta is a better choice than the corsa.
  • ahhh what... how and why my fellow MSE member to you work out that a Fiesta is better than a Corsa....

For a small car I usually recommend a toyota yaris 1st if budget allow, then a fiesta 2nd. I have driven them and also a 2004 corsa. I found the fiesta to be of better quality overall than the corsa, of course that is just my opinion.
