Feel like ending it all

Hi

I have got myself into serious debt, all unsecured credit card debt.
I have got a rough figure of about 40k:eek: .

I have no idea of how i'm going to pay it back, it's making me totally depressed not sleeping.
I lent out a lot to family got no chance of getting any of it back, not looking for sympathy as i got into this, just any help and ideas to help.

Thanks in advance

First things first, go get a cuppa and wait for the help to come rolling in from people on here.

If you look at the sticky for newbies on the main page there'll be one telling you how to do a statement of affairs, which is what people'll need to see where you're at and what's the best advice to give.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.
  • Hi droopyk

First thing I want to say is that there WILL be a way of sorting this out, it might all feel completely out of control at the moment but there will be a solution, it might not be easy but there WILL be one.

Do you feel up to posting a bit more information about your situation? If so we can give you better support, the easiest way to do this is to post a statement of affairs (www.makesenseofcards.com has a calculator for this) and then we can both advise on your debts and also on how you might be able to make your money go a bit further. If you don't want to post this here then it is still a good idea to do one and then it will make things easier if you negotaite with your lenders or go to a debt advice charity for support (list of charities here: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/loans/debt-help-plan#help)

I am really sorry that you feel so down about this, try to think of this as the start of you taking back control, it might not feel like it at the moment and it might be hard work but there will be something you can do to sort this out.

    All the best

Hopefully i will be able to get some figures together

Do try not to worry to much about things.
Martin says there is not a debt problem that cant be solved.
Look forward to seeing your SOA.

You have taken the first step and that is the most important thing - when you have got your SOA together we can really start to tackle things. You will regain control and feel a whole lot better.

I totally understand, seeing it all laid bare is horrible the first time, but it will feel better when you have done it and start to work out what to do about it

Do give yourself some time today if you need to but don't put it off for too long. You could try to get the papers all into one place tonight and then have them all ready for tomorrow (you might want to go in armed with wine/beer/tea)

If it all gets too hideous then just pop back on here and talk to us.

Hi, I know it must feel awful but do get the SOA done soon. Once you have seen it all down in writing then that is the worst part over with. The people here are full of ideas and knowledge and will help you out with it.

If you have lots of credit card debt and have been charged for late payments or going over your limit then have a look at Martins guide to claiming back those charges. It is a good way to quickly reduce what you owe to them.
