Wedding Guest Books - a great idea

Was at a wedding at the weekend, and the newly-wed couple had this really cool guest book idea that I'd never seen before.

Basically they had a polaroid camera "on-site" and were taking photos of everyone as they came to sign the book. Then in the book there was a special section where the photos could be specially inserted into the plastic wallet next to the message - no need for glue, sellotape or anything like that

I thought it was a really nice way to capture the true spirit of your guests to the event. At my cousin's wedding a few months ago, we read the guest book now and it's hard to remember everything that went on. With this you get to capture the moment exactly as it was - which I guess is key on a special day like this

In a quiet(ish) moment, the groom told me they'd got the book from a company called Instant Forever. They provide the camera and film too. I just googled them and found their site https://www.instantforever.com . Looks like a really good idea, and I suppose has plenty of uses beyond weddings

Hope that's of use to someone in preparation for their special day :-)

wish we had one of these at ours it sounds great! my friends had a map at their wedding for guests to pin their names on how far thay'd travelled to the wedding as we were from all over the UK.

They were selling photograph albums with a space to write next to the photograph in my local Boots store.

  • Some friends of ours did this too, instead of taking all the endless 'usual' photos of everyone. Used official pics for family only.

Someone then had a polaroid, taking instant pics of each couple, then we had great fun writing a message later along side each photo in a guest book. We loved the idea as guests.

just try to get the guests to write their message BEFORE they have too much to drink. quite a few of the messages in our guest book had to be heavily edited...

    I dread to think!!

Best to get people's thought as they walk into the reception, or as soon as possible before the beer/wine gets flowing...
  • we had disposable camera on every table at our reception, likewise with the comment by sooz, we had quite a few shots under the tables up ladies skirts and dresses, (delightful ones by our ushers of some of the older guests !!!!! ) quite a few cleevage shots, and one bare bum !!! all the same we now have a fab guest book with comments by everyone and pictures.

Its quite scary having been married 8 years, 5 guests from that day have now died. the eldest guest was 87 and he wore the tie he wore to his wedding day to ours, he passed away a fortnight later in his sleep, so the family pictures his son has from that day are very special.

how many disposable cameras did you get back though...we lost one totally, and two were ruined as they went for a dip in the sea with the drunk guests..... :rotfl:

[yes, we have roaring drunks for friends..............]
  • we got them all back, at the end of the reception the best man collectd them all up, and they were put with our presents. some of the pictures wernt great where people forgot to use the flash, but we had enough pics for an album.
